Production is in full swing for Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon on Netflix as the director updated his Twitter with first look photos.
Rebel Moon is Zack Snyder’s upcoming sci-fi adventure movie inspired by George Lucas’ Star Wars. The Hollywood Reporter had an exclusive article about the development of the project in Netflix in July last year. Openly intending Rebel Moon to be the next IP to look forward to, Director Snyder says
“I’ve spent the last two or three years building out this universe. Every corner has to be painted in. I’ve been doing designs, constantly drawing and really cultivating its fertile ground to make this world fully realized.”

Indeed, there are obvious Star Wars influence in the feel of these photos. Furthermore, the interior of the ship to the environment surrounded by sand in strikingly hot day, calls back to Tatooine in my opinion. More importantly, the character in the photo can be a seasoned warrior or gladiator or perhaps a centurion in the story. Could the character be Noble or is he actually Balisarius himself?
Alongside with the 2021 report was the project’s plot which state:
The film is set in a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy that finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius. They dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them make a stand.
In one of the replies of Zack Snyder’s tweet, a hopeful fan @TheBearded_Jake says
When George Lucas created star wars it was cause he couldn't do Flash Gordon. When Zack Snyder created Rebel Moon it was cause he couldn't do Star Wars.
We're witnessing cinematic history. We're living it. Breathe it in.

Looking at this in that perspective, perhaps we truly are at the precipice of a great saga that is preparing jump into flight. Years of work and tons of art coming together to visually complete the backdrop of his new brainchild. Snyder wishes to add this to his ever-growing list of achievements. Despite this not being a Star Wars story, one can’t put a good art down. People will still want to see his vision. Fans of Snyderverse in DC has proven it. His delivery of Army of the Dead has proven it. Truly, Rebel Moon is another jewel in his collection in the making.
Rebel Moon will star Sofia Boutella, Rupert Friend, Charlie Hunnam, Jena Malone, Ray Fisher, Michiel Huisman, and many more. Filming has until November 2022 on schedule and will produce two feature films. Snyder will co-write the screenplay with Kurt Johnstad of 300 and Shay Hatten of Army of the Dead.
