Images of Xolo Maridueña in his Blue Beetle suit surfaced online as the movie is deep in production aimed for August 2023 release.
Screenrant.com shares photos of Blue Beetle movie from filming site that reveals Xolo Maridueña in the titular character’s costume.
The update is a welcome treat for fans as they get to have a “first look” at the new DC hero coming up. And more importantly, fans are happy to see how close it’s going to be with the comics. Xolo Maridueña fits his role Jaime Reyes aka Blue Beetle very well given the photos.

Blue Beetle will be DC’s first Latino superhero led movie starring Xolo Maridueña as Jaime Reyes. Behind the camera, Angel Manuel Soto is director of the film with Gareth Dunnet-Alconcer’s pen on the screenplay. John Rickard is the producer.
Back in March, we reported that Sharon Stone was a candidate to portray the role Victoria Kord. Specifically, she is a character especially written for the movie to be the main villain. However, the said role is finally given to equally formidable actress Susan Sarandon.

In the comics, Jaime Reyes is the third person to be Blue Beetle. Apparently, the Blue Beetle powers come from an ancient Scarab from an Egyptian tomb. With his powers, he fights crime and becomes part of the Justice League and Teen Titans at some point. Keith Giffen, John Rogers, and Cully Hamner created the character back in 2006 during the Infinite Crisis.

Jaime Reyes was a high school student from El Paso, Texas. He is the son of a garage owner and a paramedic with a brat for a sister. Consequently, Jaime is friends with Brenda and Paco. In addition, he also serves as the buffer for the two in instances of disagreements. Nevertheless, both consider him as a good friend. One day, Jaime finds the Blue Beetle scarab as he was getting home with his friends. Curiously, Reyes took and brought it home with him. To Jaime’s surprise, the scarab came alive and latched itself to his spine. Ultimately, it gave him an out of this world armor. Thus, it enhanced his human abilities, giving him speed and strength. Furthermore, it can create items for offense and defense when in battle.
Joining Xolo Maridueña and Susan Sarandon for the movie is Raoul Max Trujillo as Carapax the Indestructible Man. Other actors already signed as cast include George Lopez, Adriana Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo, Damián Alcázar, Belissa Escobedo, Bruna Marquezine and Harvey Guillén.
