Rumor has it that Henry Cavill will be showing up in San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2022 for him to talk about Superman and possibly Man of Steel 2.
The last time we saw Henry Cavill’s Superman was in Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021). But most of that was shot for the 2017 theatrical release. We did see a couple of cameos in Shazam! (2019) and HBO Max’s Peacemaker (2022), but we can’t count those. The main reason that DC got body doubles and you never see his face.
It’s not a secret that Henry Cavill wants to be Superman. He’s been playing Superman long before Man Of Steel was being made. He screen tested for J.J. Abram’s Superman Flyby which never got off the ground. Flyby was years ahead of Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns (2006) in which Cavill also auditioned for. However, Brandon Routh got that role.
Henry Cavill has been vocal about wanting to return to being Superman. And to tell you the truth, there is so much more to Cavill’s portrayal of the hero. The fact that he has been trying to get back into the suit is absolutely incredible for the actor. But while he waits, he has been very busy with several projects like The Witcher, Enola Holmes, and Argylle.

It has been reported by Deadline that Henry Cavill maybe showing up on the San Diego Comic-Con 2022. In the same report, it’s said that he will be talking about Superman. More Superman you say? Yes, we are looking forward to that. So, does that mean that the SnyderVerse is now back in full swing? We don’t know yet. But it does seem that Zack Snyder has been hinting his return recently on social media by posting images of Tom and Jerry.
Back in March 2021, Zack Snyder’s Justice League was released accidentally by HBO Max with the label Tom and Jerry. So, Snyder is owning HBO’s mistake. Recently he showed an illustration of Tom and Jerry with a Justice League logo but instead of a JL, its TJ. He also said that he’ll be showing up in SDCC in the same Hall H as DC Films under Warner Bros Theatrical.
A report from Geekosity has said that DC Films may also announce a new Man of Steel film. It has been 9 years since the first movie. Wow, that has been long overdue and Cavill isn’t getting any younger. But by the looks of it, he is in tip top shape especially since he keeps fit for the Witcher which is still ongoing with Netflix.

It seems that Warner Bros. Discovery under the new management of David Zaslav, has been making some changes behind the scenes. DC Films is doing its best to catch up with Marvel Studios lead in terms of superhero films. While Marvel has already established its foothold in the movie industry, DC is still dipping it’s feet, but hasn’t really caught up yet. But DC is making several movies now, with Batgirl, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Blue Beetle, and recently it looks like they are moving forward with making Zatanna.
We have heard that J.J. Abrams has been working on making a new Superman film with a black lead, which is fine. Since we do have a black Superman in the comics. But don’t ignore Cavill.
Henry Cavill has been a very positive force for the DCEU. It was a shame when it felt like DC Films benched him for so long. Even outside the role of Superman, he still gives that same energy and positivity. We do look forward to seeing him fly again.
