Thor 4 Director Taika Waititi Forgot Natalie Portman Was In Star Wars

Apparently, Thor 4 director Taika Waititi has selective memory about Star Wars as he forgot that Natalie Portman was in the prequels. Even though he has been involved with Disney Plus The Mandalorian, which meant he’d have had to re-immerse himself with the lore. How could he have forgotten?

Rolling Stones posted an article together with a video of an interview with the director and Natalie Portman was the immediate focus of the conversation.

In a casual conversation, Waititi has asked Portman if she would like to be in a Star Wars movie. To which, Portman answers that she has been into Star Wars movies.

Taika Waititi admitted to have forgotten about the prequels at the time then followed up his question. The director asked if Portman would like to do another take. To which, he did not disclose Portman’s answer for.

Whether this story is true or not, it will all depend on Waititi’s believability. Even Christ Hemsworth, who has the titular role in Thor, has described him similar to a 10-year old in humor and excitement on set.

However, his way with words actually is the reason why Portman accepted the Mighty Thor role for the newest Thor movie. He pointed out to her that a lot of fans have missed Jane Foster. He brought her the series from Jason Aaron and asked her to have a read of the comics about the Mighty Thor. And the rest is history.

The director has stated that working on set is like working with family. In any family, there is always one who would crack a joke or tease other members. Perhaps, Waititi has much of this personality and carried it on the set. One can’t be too sure if he really did forget or he was just baiting Portman. Or, he may just also be humoring Rolling Stones.

While recent news have disclosed that Taika Waititi’s Star Wars movie may not really happen, the interview has implied that he is still conceptualizing it. He did run a few concepts about his movie in the interview. Basically, he is open to a whole different story for Star Wars and he is still working on it.

In the mean time, Thor: Love and Thunder is in theaters this week. Ready your popcorns!
