‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 Welcomes Christopher Lloyd In Cast

Season 3 of ‘The Mandalorian‘ is well on its way as Christopher Lloyd joins the Star Wars series as part of its cast.

The Hollywood Reporter posts actor Christopher Lloyd now has another science fiction franchise under his belt.

From Back to the Future to a galaxy far, far away, Lloyd is due to portray a role from Hill Valley to perhaps Mos Espa in Tatooine? At the moment, details are not disclosed but THR reports that his character is of a guest-starring in nature.

For most pop culture fans, let alone sci-fi adventure enthusiasts, Christopher Lloyd is Doctor Emmet Brown of the Back to the Future. The trilogy about time travel with movies that premiered 1985, 1989 and finally 1990. He is often called ‘Doc’ in the movies opposite Michael J. Fox’s iconic Marty McFly. From a total 3-movie budget of $99M, ticket registers got busy and chimed in a total of almost $1B in the worldwide box office.

Lloyd is truly a favorite for the sci-fi genre. Even before he became Doc Brown, he already starred in another popular space adventure franchise. Do we need to mention Star Trek? Of course we do! 1984 is the year where Christopher Lloyd became Kruge, the commander of a Klingon Bird of Prey. Leonard Nimoy directed the movie entitled: Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. Unfortunately for Kruge, he fell to his death after a fist-fight with Captain James T. Kirk.

A role in Star Wars would be a valuable card for his collection so to speak. We do wonder if he would be cast for Marvel or DC down the line too. A superhero movie would look really nice in his collection as well.

He has provided voice to animated characters as well. In DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp, he is the voice of Merlock the Magician Sorcerer. He also lent his voice to Grigori Rasputin in Anastasia, Judge Thatcher in The Animated Adventures of Tom Sawyer and many others. In fact, he is still active is providing the voice for The Hacker in the animated television series Cyberchase.

As an actor, Christopher Lloyd has received many awards, nominations and accolades from Primetime Emmy Awards, Obie Award, Independent Spirit Award and many others. Indeed, he has made his mark in the industry over his years of experience.

The Mandalorian does have the reputation of spinning a story around featuring characters from past animated series. We wonder if he will be a character from Rebels as well. If the character is a guest starring level, he may still appear for one or more episodes.

Whether he would be a human or not human character is also unclear. It could also be possible, yet highly unlikely, that he’d be providing a voice for an android. Or maybe another Mandalorian? In case The Mandalorian Season 3 tackles the claim for the Black Saber, could Lloyd’s character be there in those lines of the story? There are so many possibilities.

Disney Plus has yet to declare the release date for The Mandalorian Season 3. In the mean time, Obi Wan Kenobi the series is coming this May, hopefully followed by the Ahsoka Tano series.
