The Crow finally seems to have a clearer flight path to getting a reboot starring Bill Skarsgård and FKA Twigs.
Articles currently abound citing that The Crow’s reboot is finally on track. Current production is to begin filming this year in June. With several attempts at the 1994 movie’s reboot that started then dissipated, fans may have come to accept that there never will be one. Until recent developments. This time, the reboot attempt is the closest any has ever to start of filming.
The production has Rupert Sanders to direct and Bill Skarsgård will lead the film. FKA Twigs is the latest update about the movie’s production. She will portray Shelly Webster, the ill-fated fiancée of Skarsgård’s Eric Draven. Edward R. Pressman and Malcolm Gray are the producers of the film.

Award-winning actor Bill Skarsgård comes to the industry in many names. He is Pennywise in It, the Kid in Castlerock, Kro in Eternals, and Marquis in John Wick 4 just to name a few. Tahliah Debrett Barnett, more known as FKA Twigs, is a music award winner, singer-songwriter, record producer, dancer, video director and actress. As she is treading further into movies and series, her fans hope that The Crow would be third of many projects to show her acting skills.
The original movie has the following synopsis:
The night before his wedding, musician Eric Draven and his fiancée are brutally murdered by members of a violent inner-city gang. On the anniversary of their death, Eric rises from the grave and assumes the gothic mantle of the Crow, a supernatural avenger. Tracking down the thugs responsible for the crimes and mercilessly murdering them, Eric eventually confronts head gangster Top Dollar to complete his macabre mission.
Even though people can consider the movie as a typical film about a revenge arc, popularity and following steadily grew. Brandon Lee, the original Crow, perished 8 days before completion of filming of the movie due to a stray bullet during an action shoot. Director Alex Proyas and producers Jeff Most and Edward R. Pressman finished the film with some script re-writes and hired stunt doubles for the shoot.

The movie was critically acclaimed with 85% reviews on the Tomatometer and 90% audience score. With a budget of $15M, it earned $50M in the US and close to $100M worldwide. Obviously, it’s a massive box office hit. The sequels of the original movie did not fare as well and the television series starring Mark Dacascos had only a season’s run.
We look forward to seeing the next Crow soon. It truly may be time for the movie to fly and soar high again.
