Star Wars Show Andor Gets Greenlit For Season 2

The series is set five years prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

There, we will follow Cassian Andor, the rebel spy from the movie, who was also instrumental in the formation of the rebellion.

Tony Gilroy is the showrunner of this action-adventure, drama, science fiction spy thriller.

Diego Luna returns to his role as Cassian Andor.

In addition, Stellan Skarsgard, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, Genevieve O’Reilly and more join him in the cast.

Heart of Season 1 that Greenlit Andor Season 2

Before we even get to see the series, everything is set in motion.

Hundreds of people have already been on their toes working on the project.

These are the same people who made it as true to the source material as possible.

According to Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm:

One of the most exciting and ambitious new series we have coming to Disney+ in 2022 is Andor

Perhaps the Season 1 of the 12-episode series will not be enough to fit all the issues in the formation of the rebellion.

In their teaser trailer, there are two hundred of character names and thousands of character preparations needed for this first season.

Production teams work hard as much as they would for a full length movie for this series.

Diego Luna clearly appears to be excited to come back as his character for the series.

Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me. I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.

Luna, Lead Actor and Executive Producer,  further shares on the sizzle reel:

Rogue One in many ways is a film that connected new audiences with the oldest fans… it was a bittersweet feeling you know? In the premiere. Knowing that it was just one film. But then magic happens right?

And here we are with Andor Season 1.

Rebecca Alleway, Set Decorator gushes:

The enormity of this is like doing a big feature film.

Production Designer, Luke Hull states:

It is very cinematic. For me, that is where the excitement is.

Creature and Droid FX Creative Supervisor, Neal Scanlan, says:

We treat this exactly like we would have a film, there is no difference in our approach.

Showrunners really pulled out all the stops to bring this story to life.

Imagine the world before A New Hope, even before Rogue One.

The turmoil and struggle the people have under the Empire.

We begin to wonder the essential points in time when the revolutionary hearts got ignited.

The spark that started the hope that the Empire can be overthrown began at that point in time.

Just five years before Rogue One and so many possible stories can already be featured.

With so much possibilities it is no wonder that a Season 2 is imminent even before Season 1 has started.

Furthermore, they are so sure that Andor will have a Season 2 that they have already scheduled the shoot and production dates.

Co-Actor Stellan Skarsgard shares:

…in the autumn, it’s time for the second season of the Star Wars series ‘Andor.’

How this series will connect or affect the existing projects, we have yet to see.

All the more exciting, the fact that Diego Luna hinted that familiar faces will be seen in the show.

Could we even Hope to see our headstrong intergalactic Princess in the scenes?

Who is to say?
