Audiences welcomed last year’s Ghostbuster: Afterlife as a fitting sequel for the original group. The story focused on the succeeding generation of Ghostbusters. Specifically, the grandchildren of Dr. Egon Spengler, their friends and science teacher guided by the ghost of Egon himself.

The movie truly captured the original fans by bringing back Annie Potts, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Bill Murray not to mention Sigourney WeaverBob Gunton is the ghost of Spengler. It was a treat learning of what the original characters have become after what happened in New York during the 80s.

Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Logan Kim and Celeste O’Connor are the new generation actors Trevor, Phoebe, Podcast and Lucky, respectively. Paul Rudd’s Gary Grooberson is the summer class teacher seismologist who stands as the “responsible adult” in the group.

Ghostbuster: Afterlife had a budget of $75M that grossed $204M at the thick of pandemic restrictions. It had 63% in the Tomatometer and 94% Audience Score from 5,000+ verified ratings. Needless to say, it has earned its sequel.

In the movie, because of the financial success of Hudson’s Winston Zeddemore over the years, a scene implies he will be funding the new generation. Fans expect the sequel to be along the lines of training the new generation and facing new challenges. The new characters definitely need to strengthen their bond with the first generation Ghostbusters. The grandfather that they missed out on growing up can be made up for by the remaining three. Despite what seems to be Dr. Peter Venkman’s incapacity to get attached to the new breed, he still pulled through in the end. Dr. Ray Stantz would definitely welcome introducing the kids to their Firehouse. But would it mean the crew will be back in business?
