Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Madame Web now adds Extrapolations Tahar Rahim to its growing web of characters.
Deadline reports that Tahar Rahim of Don Juan, The Mauritanian and The Serpent, is now among the characters for 2023 Sony movie Madame Web.
Tahat Rahim joins earlier announced Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney and Celeste O’Connor in Sony’s universe of Marvel characters.
Director S.J. Clarkson is also on top of the project with writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless for the screenplay from a draft of Kerem Sanga. Columbia Pictures, Marvel Entertainment and Sony Pictures Entertainment come together to produce the film.

Months into development, Madame Web is now in production with an expected release date of July 7, 2023. IMDb describes the upcoming film to be:
Spin-off from Spider-Man centering on a clairvoyant mutant named Madame Web.
Sony released no further details as to the development of the movie. However, reports have implied that Madame Web is a character that can be equivalent to MCU’s Doctor Strange. Now, Sony is introducing Madame Web into its universe. Meaning, they are in a way creating an anchor for the characters to “cross between worlds”.
This way they can cross from MCU to SUMC (Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters) or more known as Spiderverse. Fans have coined the name as Sony began creating a universe around Spider-man characters without actually showing a Spider-man.
Somehow, the movies with the alien symbiotes 2018 Venom and 2021 Venom: Let There Be Carnage are the ones that performed well in the box office. The two Venom movies total to a budget of $226M that made a total of $1.36B in the worldwide box office. These, noting that the sequel released during the pandemic.
Because of the success of the Venom franchise, as well as the implication of the Sinister Six, Sony is pumped to continue with their own universe.

However, the same cannot be said for Morbius. Even though it did generate twice as much its budget in the box office, critics did not receive the movie well. It had a comparatively lower budget of $75M that got them $163M in the worldwide box office. But, this still seems unconvincing for a sequel to a movie that disappointed fans.
Still, it seems Sony is still following through to their plans as they are full swing ahead with Madame Web. General plot or premise for the movie is very much tightly under a web of wraps. There isn’t any likely chance that we would see even a teaser photo anytime soon too.
For now, we do know Madame Web is in development with Tahar Rahim as a new addition to the cast. Other Marvel character projects reportedly coming up for Sony Pictures are third movie for Venom, Kraven the Hunter, Nightwatch, Silver Sable, and The Black Cat. These titles have been around for a while and lately but only Kraven the Hunter has been gaining traction in actual production other than the third Venom movie.
