Originally, Mortal Kombat is based on the popular video fighting game of the same name from Ed Book and John Tobias. The game is noted for its graphic depiction of close contact combat. The character moves and commands inspired the delivery of the movie. Thus, generations of fans watched 2021 Mortal Kombat.

Simon McQuoid’s movie actually split the critics from audiences in reactions. Nevertheless, New Line Cinema still greenlit Mortal Kombat 2. The 54% from 292 reviews on the Tomatometer has a huge difference with the 86% Audience Score from 5000+ verified ratings. In short, critics aren’t raving about it but movie goers enjoyed it.

Slater is an award-winning American writer whose recent projects include Moon Knight, The Umbrella Academy and The Exorcist. Thus, his writing fits the franchise genre perfectly with fantasy, action and adventure themes.

After his debut with Mortal Kombat, studios have primarily decided to make a point to get him for the succeeding movie. Through his lens, the Mortal Kombat reboot secured its spot in one of the best fighting movies ever produced.

True to the video game, fans readily assume some characters are to return for the sequel. However, studio is yet to finalize the casting. But, if the return of Simon McQuoid as the director is any indication, some actors for the upcoming sequel will be reprising their roles as well.

This time, we are curious as to how Slater will bring dimension to the characters of the movie. Where some fans noted that the story of the first movie was a bit rushed, we hope the sequel brings in more meat for the characters.
