In a recent press junket, Ryan Reynolds teases preparations for Deadpool 3 where he says he will get more information sooner than later.
Ryan Reynolds always finds himself talking about the wisecracking self healing hero even if his engagement is for another movie.
If we compare the gap between the first and the second Deadpool movies, Deadpool 3 is about 2 years overdue.
Most likely this is because of the pandemic issue.
Some say it is because of the Disney-Fox Merger in 2019.
To some degree, since some conditions and contract clauses may change, perhaps.
But Reynolds only had positive views about the transition from the start.
Speaking about it with Total Film Magazine in 2020, he says:
I don’t feel like an insider at all. I think once I’m more intimate with it – if we get to make a Deadpool 3… if or when we get to make a Deadpool 3, I’ll probably have a better perspective on that. But I’m a huge fan of Marvel, and how they make movies. So when Disney bought Fox, I only saw that as a good thing. Deadpool hopefully being allowed to play in that sandbox, I think is just a win for everyone involved. But we’ll certainly see.

However, because of the merger, a lot of Deadpool fans worried about the rating getting watered down.
But the President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige himself, abated all these worries last year through Collider, saying:
It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now… It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.
If the Feige says filming won’t begin until 2022 at the earliest then that is what is going to happen.
He even shared Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin and Wendy Molyneux are “hard at work” on the script.
Furthermore, Reynolds is overseeing all of it.

Two years after those Free Guy interviews, we now have a more hopeful piece of info from Reynolds about Deadpool 3.
In his press tour for the Netflix film, The Adam Project, he hinted through Collider:
We pretty much talk about everything, but I’ll say this about that particular subject is I’ll have a batch of updates on that sooner rather than later, I hope. So I’ll be able to get into stuff about Deadpool a little bit more clearly and definitively down the road.
Reading into this statement, it would seem that they are in the process of ironing out details.
Reynolds is preparing for “a batch” of updates and we are happy to anticipate the batch sooner rather than later.
It is probably because Deadpool 3 is still in the development stage that he cannot share more details.
On the upside, it is already 2022!
Hopefully the Free Guy turned Fighter Pilot bent to save the future will soon have more time for the red-suited wisecracker 4th wall breaking hero.
We miss Deadpool so much.
