Russo Brothers: Secret Wars – Bigger Than Infinity War And Endgame

The Russo Brothers, Anthony and Joe, adores Secret Wars that they say it’s bigger than Infinity War and Endgame. MCU’sPhase 4 is beyond its halfway point that fans now hope to see the Russo Brothers take the reins back to close the phase with Secret Wars. Rumors have been going around that that is the point where all the Phase 4 projects are leading up to.

During the premiere of their Netflix movie The Gray Man, Deadline managed to get Anthony and Joe Russo to talk about Secret Wars.

They said:

Our love for Marvel is based on the books that we read as kids, the books that we fell in love with. The one series that we adored growing up was Secret Wars. It’s incredibly ambitious. It would be bigger than Infinity War and Endgame. But it’s a massive undertaking. Those two movies were very hard to make. So trying to imagine making another two movies even bigger than those two? We’re going to have to sleep on that.

While this does not confirm that the project is on the table let alone that they will be at its helm, it’s still promising. For one thing they are open to the idea of . For another thing, they didn’t say no.

Phase 4 has indeed introduced more than a handful characters into the movies and series. It’s no secret that people think Phase 4 is all over the place. But we still reserve to believe in Marvel’s grand plan. Of course, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame will be very tough to live up to. However, Marvel has more “big event” issues in the comics bringing the world’s superpowered and super-magical individuals together.

The comics also imply that these “big events” happen without the human or regular world actually knowing.

Just this week, Kamala Khan’s Ms. Marvel starring Iman Vellani, brought the Mutant Gene into Universe 616. The show also explained how the rest of the world knows about Thanos and the events of Endgame. Apparently, if not for Antman’s podcasts, no one would know of the battle that happened after The Blip.

From the events of Endgame, they have introduced a new Hawkeye, a new Black Widow and a new Captain America. They also gained Shang-Chi, Moon Knight, Scarlet Scarab and a whole team of Eternals. On top of these, Loki is busy with the TVA and possibly released Kang the Conqueror at some point in time. Furthermore, the world now knows different people or entities from other universes can cross Universe 616 and vice versa. That is thanks to Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch. All of these, not to mention the coming of She-Hulk, Iron Heart and the Secret Invasion.

In fact, as much as heroes are introduced, villains or entities of danger also come into play. So far, the most formidable is the Celestial, Arishem, from the Eternals who has declared he will come back to pass judgement to earth. Literally, he is a “big bad” news for everyone on earth, superpowered or not.

From what the Russo Brothers have said, it appears that the conclusion of Phase 4 will also be a two-part movie. Back in 2020, Anthony Russo said:

It would be the biggest movie you could possibly imagine, so that’s what really excites us about the story — the ambition of it is even bigger than the ambition of the Infinity Saga.

But given these, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has yet to commit to the Secret Wars rumors. He has said:

I’ve seen those rumors as well. Why is everyone talking about that now? That’s what I want to know. I think one person writes about it, and then another person writes about it, and then everybody’s writing about it, and then it’s happening.

However, last month Total Film quoted him saying:

We’ll be a little more direct about that in the coming months, to set a plan, so audiences who want to see the bigger picture can see a tiny, tiny, tiny bit more of the roadmap.

Again, Secret Wars was neither confirmed nor was it denied. Since the merger of Marvel and Fox, there has to be the transition to incorporate the characters newly re-acquired. And perhaps, that is what Phase 4 is doing. Even Deadpool is on the road to actually getting his third movie. The Defenders and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are truly not far along too.

Still, so many questions have to be answered and fans need only to be more patient. the San Diego Comic-Con is coming up this July as well as the September D23 Expo. We are sure that more answers will be delivered through there.

The Russo Brothers are the well-trusted tandem to direct a show-stopping movie. from Infinity War to Endgame as well as their other projects under the MCU, audiences know that they are appreciative of the original source material. the differences between comics art and film art are deeply in their rooths that they have ready understanding of the story that needs to be told.

Come on Russo Brothers and Marvel, make it happen.
