Reacher Season 2 has been ordered from Amazon Prime, so, what do we know about the plot, cast and release?
Jack Reacher is a popular series of books written by Lee Child. Jack Reacher was initially popularized in films by Tom Cruise. He made two movies out of it namely the self titled Jack Reacher (2012) which was based on the book One Shot (2005), and Jack Reacher: Never Go Back in 2016 which was also based on a book of the same. The book Never Go Back was released in 2013.
Tom Cruise’s time as Reacher was short-lived. A third movie didn’t push through. Although Tom Cruise did try to get the franchise moving. Eventually Amazon Prime rebooted the franchise as a TV series. One major difference about the character is the physique. In the books, Jack Reacher is known to be tall and having a large frame. Tom Cruise’s didn’t fit the book’s description, but it didn’t really matter if the movie worked. But for some fans, it’s a major issue and didn’t sit well with them.

The reboot got Alan Ritchson to take the role of Jack Reacher. He’s known for his DC role as Hawk in Titans. He also showed up as another DC hero as Aquaman in Smallville. He’s also seen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
The first season cast included Malcolm Goodwin, Willa Fitzgerald, Chris Webster, Bruce McGill, Maria Sten and several more. And the plot revolved in Lee Child’s first book in the Jack Reacher series “Killing Floor”.
When will Reacher Season 2 release?
Very little news is available about Reacher’s second season. The premier series itself just came out last February. The show has already been considered as the most viewed show in the month of its release, topping shows like Steel Magnolias (Netflix), Inventing Anna (Netflix), Ozark (Netflix), The Book of Boba Fett (Disney+). With its quick success, it even got better news that Amazon ordered a second season. For now, the series is expected to resume by 2023.

What is Reacher Season 2’s Plot?
First book is based on the Killing Floor (1997), which is the first book of the Jack Reacher series of novels. There are no hints on what the series will get into. Will Amazon Prime’s series just follow the order of the books or will they shift the order or combine the stories like what was done with the series Bosch. There is a ton of material for Amazon Prime to work on. The book series, written by Lee Child already has 27 books and it still continues on now.

If Amazon Prime will follow the sequences of the books, the second book could be based on “Die Trying” which was released in 1998. This is about Reacher getting in a complicated situation while simply helping a young woman named Holly Johnson. Both Reacher and Johnson were suddenly kidnapped at gunpoint and driven cross-country. Unknowing of why they were kidnapped, they find themselves in a remote location. Reacher and Johnson work together to find answers.

What about the Reacher Season 2 cast?
At this time, the only confirmed cast to return is the lead himself Alan Ritchson. If they will be making ‘Die Trying’ there is very little reason to use other characters from the first season since the book focused on Jack Reacher in an unfamiliar location and disconnected from people he is familiar with. But then again, we aren’t sure if they are going to make the series in the same order as the books.
Reacher has been one of the best shows to start the year, particularly for Amazon Prime. We’re happy to learn of the new season in the making. But so far, it is in its very early stages of development. We’re excited to see what’s in store for Jack Reacher.
