Award winning actress Rachel Zegler is positioned to be the lead actress in the Hunger Games Prequel, The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes.
Although production still has to officially announce the casting, Giant Freakin Robot reports that Rachel Zegler, actress of West Side Story and Snow White, is now the lead actress in the Hunger Games prequel.

To say that Rachel Zegler is a rising star will be an understatement. West Side Story as her first full length movie where she portrayed Maria. From which, she garnered multiple nominations from different award-giving bodies. In fact, of the nearly 20 nominations for Best Actress, Best Debut Performance and Most Promising Performer combined, she won 4 including the Golden Globes in the USA for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
From Maria in 2021, she now is filming for Disney’s Snow White as the titular role in the live action remake of the classic. In addition, she is also filming Spellbound as Princess Ellian’s voice. Also in her acting credits list is Shazam! Fury of the Gods where she is cast as a secret character. Apparently, Shazam is already in post-production.

Her acting career is truly at a promising start and she has a lot ahead of her at present. In our report last March, the prequel is based on the dystopian action-adventure novel by American author Suzanne Collins. The project has the working title: Butterfly. Based on the prequel’s story, if ever she truly has the lead role, she will be Lucy Gray Baird. Although, in the novel, Lucy is only 12 years old, they may have changes on this for the movie adaptation. Lucy is the District 12 Tribute in the 10th Hunger Games. She has the 18 year old future Panem President Coriolanus Snow as her mentor.
While the production has yet to officially announce the casting, they also have yet to announce the casting for Coriolanus Snow. As the team is on schedule to film this year, we expect casting announcements very soon.
