Bane Is Peacemaker’s Next Villain For Season 2 On HBO Max

With Peacemaker season 2 already greenlit, it’s being reported that Bane will be the villain in the upcoming season on HBO Max.

At present, the fandom is currently feasting upon the fact that Peacemaker clearly tied the Justice League into the story. Although the depiction of Superman and the absence of Batman and Cyborg left a lot of the viewers wanting. They were a bit late for the party indeed.

The popular DC character Bane will be featured in Peacemaker season 2 and will likely be the primary antagonist. The story is not yet clear and development is still in the early stages.

But this does not necessarily mean James Gunn, series showrunner, would be slowing down anytime soon.

As one of the formidable foes of Batman, Bane brings in a lot of meat on the table for the story.

For one thing, his presence in Season 2 would bring in perhaps a cameo or even a scene or two with Batman. The tone, however, will not be as dark as the recent renditions in the movies. Despite the violence bordering to gore in Peacemaker’s action scenes, there is still a layer of comedy to it. This aspect of the series, highly identified with the style of James Gunn, should remain untouched.

Bane first appeared in Batman: Vengeance of Bane #1 published January 1993.

Chuck Dixon (writer) Doug Moench (writer) Graham Nolan (artist) were the creators.

Bane grew up in prison as the courts of Santa Prisca made him serve his escaped father’s sentence. Through the years he read through books and learned through inmate mentors including a priest. His studies gave him access to learn English, Spanish, Portuguese, Persian, Urdu and Latin.

Apart from studies, he spent his days physically training and honing his skills in combat. He rose the prison ranks and established himself as King.

Eventually, the prison forced him to be a test subject for a serum known as Venom.

While it killed most of the other test subjects, Bane survived with the effect of increased physical strength.

However, the serum is also needed to be administered to him every 12 hours.

Otherwise, he will suffer severe life threatening side effects.

He interpreted his childhood fear of bats as a sign that he needs to defeat Batman.

The closest person to fit the bill of Bane’s character is Dave Bautista.

He has been expressive of the fact that he would like to portray the role.

In fact, back in 2021, he had a meeting with Warner Bros. and DC Films to more or less demand the role should they feature him again in the movies.

I want to play Bane so bad I went to Warner Bros., had an appointment with them, had an appointment with DC, walked in the door and said, ‘I want to play Bane, I’m not kidding. They were a little like. ‘Woah, we’re not even casting Bane.’ I was like ‘I don’t care, I’m playing him.

Now more than ever, it will be strengthened by the fact that James Gunn is on the helm of the show. Dave Bautista has a strong established relationship with James Gunn from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Bautista is one of the very strong voices in the cast that pushed for Gunn’s return to finish his design for Guardians.

This year, the third movie is coming and is expected to wrap things up for their team. Apart from Dave Bautista, it is expected that there will be a roster of potential actors who will be considered for the part. Tom Hardy portrayed the role well in the movie The Dark Knight Rises.

But he will have to train and pump up again to fit the role so to speak.

We share in the belief that Bautista is close to a shoo-in for the role.

Will Bane say one of his iconic lines?

There is only one way to find out.

Peacemaker Season 2 is coming up and Bane will be there.
