Recent years, fans have “Star Trek: Discovery“, “Star Trek: Lower Decks“, “Star Trek: Picard” and the newest being “Star Trek: Prodigy“.
Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman created the series Star Trek: Discovery.
The story features the crew of the starship Discovery.
Initially the show was set ten years before Star Trek: The Original Series.
Succeeding season ends with the ship traveling centuries into the future setting up the following seasons.
Mike McMahan created Star Trek: Lower Decks, the first comedic and adult animated television series of the franchise.
Set in the year 2380, the story follows the low-ranking support crew of the starship U.S.S. Cerritos.
Akiva Goldsman, Michael Chabon, Kirsten Beyer, and Alex Kurtzman created Star Trek: Picard.
It features a retired Jean-Luc Picard, who has been deeply affected by the death of Data.
Kevin and Dan Hageman created the animated television series Star Trek: Prodigy.
Aimed for the younger audiences using 3D animation, Prodigy follows a group of young aliens who go on adventures in an abandoned starship.
“Star Trek: Discovery” has just started its fourth season run this month.
And it now already has a green light for a fifth season.
This is quite similar for “Star Trek: Lower Decks” and “Star Trek: Picard.”
Lower Decks is now renewed for Season 4 with the Season 3 still up and coming in a few months.
Season 2 of Star Trek: Picard will premiere on March 3, and Season 3 is already in production.
“Star Trek: Prodigy” resumed the first half of its first season on Jan. 6. The second half will be available later this year.
New episodes will stream weekly.

Paramount Plus’ “Star Trek” universe chief Alex Kurtzman says
We have to think several years out. So we’re thinking about, you know, knowing that we’re going to want new shows on the air two or three years from now we have to start putting those now. So there’s a bunch of things in development that are now starting to take shape and we’re super excited about it.
As are we chief. As are we.
“Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” will debut its first season on Paramount Plus on May 5.
This new series stars Anson Mount as Capt. Pike, Ethan Peck as Spock, and Rebecca Romijn as Una Chin-Riley.
They are aboard the Enterprise prior to the events of the original “Star Trek” series.
Kurtzman even shares upcoming projects.
He and his team are working on “Section 31” and another show he’s remaining secretive about.
But we note back in “Star Trek Day” fan event in September 2021, Kurtzman said he was “very excited” about the prospect of a “Starfleet Academy” TV series.
Apparently, it has been in development as early as June 2018.
Could that be the newest series they are working on?
Kurtzman is also quoted:
Four years ago, we made a promise to grow ‘Star Trek’ into something it had never been before, and thanks to the incredibly hard work done by our many talented showrunners, writers, and directors, along with the extraordinary support of CBS Studios and Paramount Plus, we’re keeping our word. Now our current shows are set up for the future as we work to build ‘Trek’s’ next phase of programming for years to come.
Make it so.
