Paramount Plus Green Lights Sonic Projects With SEGA

Paramount Plus announces Sonic the Hedgehog Movie 3 and original series projects have the green light with SEGA.

A little less than two months before the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 hits the theatres, we get the expansion news!

Paramount+ and SEGA announces another Sonic Movie and an original series about Knuckles as follow up projects.

Following up from his victory, Sonic tries to make a difference in Green Hills.

However, his efforts are not exactly up to par yet for a superhero.

Upon Dr. Robotnik’s return with a new partner, Sonic fights an additional enemy in Knuckles.

Another character is introduced in the sequel.

Tails becomes Sonic’s new ally to find a power generating emerald and thwart Dr. Robotnik’s evil plan into ever coming to fruition.

Ben Schwartz is back as the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog, the blue hedgehog with super speed.

Colleen O’Shaughnessey will voice Tails, a yellow fox who can fly with two tails.

James Marsden as Thomas “Tom” Michael Wachowski, the sheriff of Green Hills who becomes friends with Sonic.

Idris Elba will voice Knuckles, the red echidna with super strength.

Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, the brilliant robotics expert and mad scientist.

Fresh from their investor event, Paramount+ is excited to expand the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.

SEGA shares the excitement and followed the announcement of expansion together with a new video game for the holidays.

The third installment to the Sonic Movies has yet to share the production details.

The announcement only confirms Idris Elba will voice Knuckles in the new Paramount+ series.

Paramount+ has yet to state details about Storylines, production team and the series showrunners.

Haruki Satomi, CEO of SEGA Corporation officially says:

We are delighted to announce that the third Sonic theatrical film and the first live action Sonic series for Paramount+ are being actively developed. We’ve got a remarkable partnership with Paramount, and we are excited to continue expanding the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise with them. 2022 is shaping up to be a significant year for the franchise with the second film being released this April, as well as Sonic Frontiers, the highly anticipated video game title, coming this holiday. Sonic has been beloved by fans across the world for over 30 years and we look forward to continuing to bring memorable moments and experiences to them for many years to come.

Knuckles having a separate series being developed would mean he has a transition from villain to protagonist in the upcoming movie.

Paramount+ will keep Idris Elba as the voice.

Thus the continuity of the storyline is intact.

With Sonic the Hedgehog’s schedule positioning it after the series, could there be a Sonic and Knuckles team up movie?

Knuckles has always put his duty above all.

His duty to protect the emerald at all cost.

Thus, he is also independent and identified as a loner.

However, in the other platforms, he is one of Sonics friends.

Perhaps, in the upcoming movie, Dr. Robotnik deceived Knuckles about Sonic.

Since he does not know who Sonic is, this deception is right up Dr. Robotnik’s alley.

Sonic and Knuckles with fight.

Then Knuckles will realize Dr. Robotnik’s deceit as he attempts to steal the Master Emerald.

Sonic and Knuckles will team up, together with Tails to fight Dr. Robotnik.

Or so we presume.

We have only about 50 days left to wait to see what really happens.

Sonic the Hedgehog Movie 2 will be in theaters on April 8, 2022!
