On This Planet Dwayne Johnson Teases Superman In Black Adam

Whenever Dwayne Johnson says ‘On This Planet’, it actually alludes to Superman being in the Black Adam movie and storyline. It’s no secret that Johnson means to be the one to bring Henry Cavill back in the DCEU as the Man of Steel. He has said time and again that he finds Cavill a ‘phenomenal’ Superman.

Johnson even goes to borrow a classic 4th wall breaking move from Supes at winking at the camera. Everything he does seems to really push everyone to get on board with his mission to have a Black Adam vs Superman scene.

Jake Hamilton from Good Day Chicago got to sit with Johnson in an interview for Black Adam. Johnson answered Hamilton’s answers as clearly and as detailed as he could. One thing is certain, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson listens to fans. In the video he said it’s what he’s done all these years even during his time as a wrestler.

Clearly, Johnson’s plan for Black Adam on the DCEU is not a one-time movie venture. On his vision for Black Adam’s role in the DCEU he says:

The ultimate goal was not only deliver Black Adam but also deliver the JSA. 5 new superhero characters in one movie. But also stretch this universe out. And let’s think about what if Batman were to face… I’m sorry if Black Adam were to face any of the other characters.

Immediately Hamilton called him out on something might be there for Batman and he let it slip. When he asked what a fight between Superman and Black Adam would look like, in a heartbeat he answers:

I think Black Adam lands the first punch.  Now, I don’t know if Black Adam lands the last punch. Because Superman! I grew up a DC boy. Superman, I love Superman! I loved Superman and I still do. Clearly!

Hamilton brings up Johnson’s eye for film making. Pointing out that he knows that Johnson is aware of what makes good movies, he asks if the scene is already in his mind. Johnson talked about clarity of vision and shares:

I can see things so clearly. On how that scene looks like, what that scene looks like, what the film looks like, what the next three films look like. Now, whether or not that comes into fruition, that always helps when you have that kind of clarity. Here’s what I do know. Listen to the fans. When I was wrestling, it always led and guided me. Just like now. So, for the past 10 years as I was pushing for Black Adam up this hill to get this made…for the past 5-7 years, I was also listening to the fans at the same time. Where you have Black Adam, we will create Black Adam for him to be the most powerful and unstoppable force on this planet. The most powerful and unstoppable force in the entire universe has been on the sidelines for too long.

The last point of insight is the possibility of seeing Black Adam’s demise down the line. Johnson answers if this is part of his arc:

I wouldn’t like to see it right now because there’s a lot more storytelling that we need to tell and we should tell. I think it will be very beneficial for the fans out there and generations to come. But one day, I am open to that. The ultimate sacrifice. Sure, we’ll see.

Now, more than ever, fans have more to look forward to in the DCEU, thanks to Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam.
