Rob Zombie is making a reboot film of The Munsters, and it looks like Netflix might be interested in releasing it on their streaming service.
It has been reported by Bloody Disgusting that Rob Zombie’s The Munsters has been sold to Netflix. Rob Zombie has been shooting The Munsters originally intended for Peacock streaming service since it was confirmed that it was a Universal Home Entertainment production. Without further update from that information, the studio neither announced a release date for the movie.
Apparently, Rob Zombie’s The Munsters movie caught the attention of Netflix. And now, rumor has it that the streaming major player has bought the movie. Again, no official announcement yet comes from Netflix yet but chances are pretty high. Although, as it’s still not yet fully official, we may have to keep our fingers crossed for now. Hopefully, the release of the movie would be in time for the holiday it matches this year.

The Munsters was a family sitcom series that was released from 1964 to 1966. It featured a friendly family of monsters namely Herman Munster (Frankenstein’s monster), Lily (a vampire wife), Grandpa (Count Dracula) , their son Eddie (werewolf) and their niece Marilyn who is the normal looking person in the series. Marylin is considered as the ugly duckling of the family.
Rob Zombie refers to the three main characters of the reboot as his “Munster Squad”. Portraying Herman Munster in the reboot is Jeff Daniel Phillips while Sheri Moon Zombie is Lily Munster and Daniel Roebuck is Grandpa Munster. The movie also stars Richard Brake as Dr. Henry Augustus Wolfgang, Catherine Schell as Zoya Krupp the gypsy queen. Dee Wallace, Cassandra “Elvira” Peterson and Jorge Garcia will also be in the movie.
Original series actress, Pat Priest will appear in Zombie’s reboot film. She is to reprise her role Marilyn in the movie. What is important to note is that even today, certain scenes from the original series are catching traction as viral clips in social media. Viewers have noted that the theme on diversity and acceptance of differences are still relevant, if not all the more relevant today.
As the creator of the reboot, Rob Zombie is also a noted fan of the series. His passion in making the reboot a reality is evident in his regular updates of behind the scenes. The reboot perhaps is truly something the whole family can enjoy. Quite possibly, it’s reminiscent of those family sitcoms viewers have come to adore following some years ago.
