A new animated series of Ghostbusters is in the works for Netflix with Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan as Executive Producers.
Variety breaks the news that Sony Pictures Animation, through Reitman and Kenan’s Ghost Corps, Inc., is working on the new animated series.
The overall plot and premise of the upcoming animated series are still under wraps. If the live-action feature Ghostbusters: Afterlife is any indication, fans can expect a revival of the original fun franchise. Reitman and Kenan are the two of the team behind the latest live-action movie. More importantly, Jason Reitman directed the movie and Gil Kenan co-wrote the screenplay with him primarily.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife performed well in the box office. It zapped in $205M from a $75M budget. The movie starred Carrie Coon as Callie, Finn Wolfhard as Trevor, Mckenna Grace as Phoebe, Paul Rudd as Mr. Grooberson, Celeste O’Conner as Lucky and Logan Kim as Podcast. Critics rated the movie 63% at the Tomatometer and audiences gave a high verified rating of 94%.

Jason Reitman is a multi-Oscar Award Nominee. He is also won the 2010 BAFTA Best Screenplay for his work on Up In The Air with Sheldon Turner. On the other hand, Gil Kenan got his Oscar Best Directing in an Animated Feature Production Nomination for his work on 2006 Monster House.
