Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman reigns on top of international charts on Netflix streaming thus it has high chances of getting Season 2. Since its release in August 5, Netflix has The Sandman as Number 1 in its Top 10 series across countries. If not the first in others, The Sandman definitely belongs to its top 5.
Netflix did The Sandman right as they got Neil Gaiman heavily involved in its development. In fact, unlike other adaptations, Gaiman is there throughout The Sandman’s production. Vanity Fair even had him explain every shot of the official trailer specifically saying ‘first season of The Sandman’. It already assumes there will be Season 2.

Definitely, The Sandman on Netflix delighted fans all over the world. Many have expressed their appreciation saying that the adaptation of comic book series is worth the wait. Viewing data does not lie. It will only be a matter of time until the streaming giant officially announces that Season 2 will be on its way. In fact, Small Screen already writes that the second season already has its green light.
This is happy news indeed. But it does not surprise the fans who have binge-watched the series. As soon as the series started streaming, the first episode already practically assured it. In the article, sources say that a writer’s room is already in place for the follow up season. In addition, they have the beginnings of concepts designs and effects they want to make it happen.
Even in an interview with Rolling Stone, showrunner Allan Heinberg said that writers had 20 weeks to talk about the follow up season, he said:
Well, we had a writer’s room for 20 weeks to talk about Season Two and to break stories and generate outlines and first drafts. And now I’m having early talks with production design and VFX and getting everything into position, so that if we are lucky enough to have a Season Two, we’re ready to go, ideally with the same team who made Season One.

This just goes to show that the people behind the series are very much confident that The Sandman has more stories to tell. Very much so, considering that the source material has volumes of Morpheus’ stories. Season 1 has touched the love story of Morpheus with Nada. The showrunner says:
For the most part, though we are pulling a lot of the standalone stories out of there, not necessarily where they are in the comics, and folding them into the main saga. A good example is [the African myth-inspired comic-book story] Tales In the Sand, which happens very early at the beginning of The Doll’s House saga in the comics. And that would be part of our Season of Mists storyline in Season Two. When Dream has to go back to hell in order to free [his ancient love-interest] Nada, that seemed like a more organic place to tell their backstory and find out how they fell in love, and how Nada ended up in hell. So that’s a good example of a story that’s now woven into the main fabric of Season Two.
We do expect the official announcement soon. Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman is just in its first week of streaming. Just like other series before it, the waiting period to assess its performance is 28 days from premiere. Be that as it may, the series depicting the King of Dreams is in position to continue its storytelling. There have been series that has had its confirmation of a following season prior to the end of the ‘days to wait’. We commend the people behind the series for their job exquisitely done.
