Only a few days ago, author Neil Gaiman confirmed The Sandman 2 got the green light from Netflix and he shares parts of its story arc. The fandom let out a collective sigh of relief that may be heard all the way to the dreaming. Of course, this meant that story for season 2 is already in the works.
Season 1 of The Sandman is an adaptation of the eponymous comic book series. Specifically, Preludes and Noctures and The Doll’s House. A bonus episode featuring Dream of a Thousand Cats and Calliope was a delightful treat to fans. Naturally, there are some impressions that say the changes that Gaiman did and allowed for the Netflix series did not do the original pages justice. Nevertheless, the series is still among projects audiences deem to be one of the best live-action adaptation from comics.

After confirming the renewal, Gaiman acknowledged the multitude of people obsessed with Dream of the Endless. Likewise, he also thanked Netflix and Warner Bros. for the opportunity. Through them, he was able to push forward with the live adaptation in the first place. Finally, he shared what people can generally expect. This includes some parts of the stories that will be in the follow up season. He states:
Millions upon millions of people have welcomed and watched and loved The Sandman on Netflix, from established Sandman fans to people who were simply curious, and then became obsessed with the Lord of Dreams, his family and their goings-on. It gives me unbelievable pleasure to say that, working with Netflix and Warner Bros., Allan Heinberg, David Goyer and I will be bringing even more of The Sandman stories to life. There are some astonishing stories waiting for Morpheus and the rest of them (not to mention more members of the Endless Family to meet). Nobody is going to be happier about this than the Sandman cast and crew: they are the biggest Sandman fans there are. And now it’s time to get back to work. There’s a family meal ahead, after all. And Lucifer is waiting for Morpheus to return to Hell…
The rumours are true. Netflix is thrilled that so many of you have been watching Sandman, and the thing we were all hoping would happen… has indeed happened… pic.twitter.com/zc5CrhsdZK

The Sandman Season 1 description is as follows:
There is another world that waits for all of us when we close our eyes and sleep — a place called the Dreaming, where The Sandman, Master of Dreams (Tom Sturridge), gives shape to all of our deepest fears and fantasies. But when Dream is unexpectedly captured and held prisoner for a century, his absence sets off a series of events that will change both the dreaming and waking worlds forever. To restore order, Dream must journey across different worlds and timelines to mend the mistakes he’s made during his vast existence, revisiting old friends and foes, and meeting new entities — both cosmic and human — along the way.
Gaiman practically promises that the audience will get to know more of Dream’s siblings. Another point for the story is Lucifer’s angle towards the Lord of Dreams. The battle they just finished in Season 1 seems to lead to an action befitting the Prince of Hell
Always, it’s highly comforting to know that the people behind The Sandman 2 in development are fans themselves. The quality of the output is evidence as to the devotion the crew has for the material. Given that, fans can expect the upcoming second season to be full of wonder indeed.
