MTV Entertainment greenlights an animated version of Chris Rock’s family comedy Everybody Hates Chris into Everybody Still Hates Chris. The straight-to-series Everybody Still Hates Chris keeps Rock as narrator and executive producer. It’ll be the animated version of the live version of Chris Rock’s autobiographical comedy.
Deadline reports that the comedian’s teenage years will be the inspiration for the upcoming series. Paramount Plus and Comedy Central will be its means for global reach.
CBS Studios and 3 Arts Entertainment produces it with MTV. The project belongs to MTV Entertainment Studios’ thrust to strengthen its adult animation portfolio.
Everybody Still Hates Chris, will take pages off from Chris Rock’s family comedy Everybody Hates Chris. The series inspiring the upcoming animated project starred Terry Crews, Tichina Arnold and Tequan Richmond. It ran for four seasons totaling 88 episodes from 2005 to 2009. The series registers impressive ratings on the Tomatometer reflecting 95% average critic score and 98% average audience score.

The sitcom depicts the misadventures of a teenage Chris Rock in his adolescent years in Brooklyn during the 1980s. Chris together with his family shows their life as they navigate their community encounters. Rock is the show’s creator and narrator as well as its executive producer.
Translating the series into animation for MTV is Sanjay Shah who will be its showrunner and pilot script writer. Ali LeRoi joins him and Rock as executive producer as well as Michael Rotenberg and Dave Becky. Grant Gish is also credited as producer for the animated version as he is MTV’s Head of Adult Animation.
