Millie Bobby Brown Has Dibs On Disney Star Wars Role

Disney is in the works for a Star Wars movie that may just cast Millie Bobby Brown as the lead and she gets to take her pick.

For an actor to successfully carry series and movies, it builds a track record that moves his or her name to the top of A-list franchises. Brown is one of the few actors who have steadily taken on projects that built on her name in the industry. An exclusive from Mirror claims that Millie Bobby Brown has been in secret talks with Disney for a $15M Star Wars lead role.

From her breakthrough Original Netflix Series role of Eleven in Stranger Things, Brown has also taken on other personas. She became Enola Holmes in the eponymous series in 2020. She is younger sister to Henry Cavill’s Sherlock. Critics gave the series a Certified Fresh Tomato Rating of 91% from 206 reviews and 70% Audience Score with 2500+ Ratings. The series have started a new franchise for the actress as well, given that she has just finished filming for the Season 2.

On the big screen, she has Godzilla: King of the Monsters in 2019 where she was Madison Russell. She reprised the role in the sequel Godzilla vs. Kong in 2021. While the first one did not fare well on the critic’s scale at 42% in the Tomatometer, the second movie got Certified Fresh at 75%. In the box office however, both movies performed well on their gross ticket sales at $383M and $468M, respectively.

The actress also dipped her fingers on producing projects also for Netflix. One is currently filming where she also stars in. The adventure fantasy Damsel where she portrays Princess Elodie who discovers she has to face a fire-breathing dragon for her life instead of marrying a prince. The other is a drama thriller in pre-production entitled The Girls I’ve Been. In the latter, she portrays Nora who is a con artist that uses her powers of persuasion and impersonation to save herself and her friends from dangerous situations.

In the Mirror exclusive, they cite that Disney and Brown have mutual respect. Halina Watts writes that their source says:

“Millie is on Disney’s radar for the new Star Wars projects. She’s had contact with Kathleen, who is aware of her desire to feature in a movie or play a central role in one of the new TV projects for Disney Plus. The conversations are informal but there’s huge mutual respect there.

The Disney executives know just how much of an icon she is already for the 10 to 30-year-old audience and what that brings in terms of appeal. She could easily take home $15m for a first film or series. And she doesn’t need to audition – it’s more a case of how the director and her bond. She has the gravitas to hold down the lead for that universe.”

At least three Star Wars movies are currently in development for 2023, 2025 and 2027 theatrical release. Screenrant even cited eight movies. If one is to take into consideration the huge bit of information that Steve Asbell of 20th Century Studios gave, Disney mandates studios in the conglomerate to produce at least two or three theatrical movies a year starting 2023. Furthermore, Kathleen Kennedy has stated that the Star Wars franchise needs to create a whole new saga.

With all future projects a good possibility for Millie Bobby Brown landing a role, she may be adding Star Wars franchise to her belt very soon. We do think that she can portray a younger Princess Leia, one that took on official royal duties while being a rebel leader before she got captured in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. However, as the franchise means to move years beyond the Skywalker saga, stories of legends and even High Republic Era could be possible for Brown.

May the Force be with Millie.
