The recent success of the 1986 movie Top Gun sequel Maverick makes people think future projects with Miles Teller and Tom Cruise are ahead. After 36 years, Cruise’s Maverick is back in the sequel with his wingman Goose’s son that Teller portrays. Needless to say, the movie is a hit among old and new fans of the movie.
A lot of those who have seen the sequel say that it’s a fitting continuation for Maverick. In the new movie, they were able to capture the charm of the 80s film. Apparently, a lot of people are wanting to see more of the action that they are curious whether follow up projects are in the works.
Teller is not a stranger to these queries and recently from a report from Deadline he reveals that he is indeed in talks for Top Gun 3. Hopefully, they won’t take as much as 3 decades before releasing the third movie.

According to Teller:
I’ve been having some conversations with him [Tom Cruise] about it. We’ll see.
At present, Top Gun: Maverick is racking up $1.14B in worldwide box office. Not bad for a movie to go supersonic speed. Cruise is also one of the sequel’s producers. Now, the movie is Cruise’s highest box office performer among his projects. The movie’s production budget was $170M and it paid for itself multiple times over. 6.7 times to be exact.
Even though he may be positive in the prospect for another run with the jets, he also says:
That would be great, but that’s all up to TC. It’s all up to Tom.

At the moment, Cruise has his project plate full with Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One and Part Two. There is also an untitled SpaceX Project that is in pre-production. Beyond these, is the rumor that he appears as Cage in Live Die Repeat and Repeat movie for an undisclosed year of release. As a producer he adds Luna Park, which is an action, adventure, sci-fi project. It is described with the line ” A group of renegade employees who venture to the moon to steal an energy source.”
While potential sequel may be welcomed by a good number of fans, there are those who think that the Top Gun: Maverick is already perfect in itself. They have the impression that it’s already beautiful as it is. So, just leave it at that.
Do you think they are right?
