MCU Blade Production On Hold

Without a director at the helm, MCU Blade is now on hold and Marvel means to search for a filmmaker to restart production in 2023. Seems Mahershala Ali’s Blade is yet to walk in the daylight. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the production notified the crew this Tuesday. However, plans of restarting the production is due on the first quarter of 2023. Most likely, the release day of November 3, 2023 will have to change as well.

Without any confirmation from Marvel, there is still slim chances that the production may push through this November. Of course, that is because you can’t sail a ship without the captain right? Unless they get a director on board within two weeks, starting the shoot in November is rather bleak.

Writer Beau DeMayo, however, is still on board. DeMayo has had previous works on The Originals writing at least 7 episodes and story editing at least 20 episodes for the series. This most likely is what can be a preview of what he can do for Blade. Because The Originals tackled a legendary family of Vampires pitted against powerful witches with werewolves to boot. It’s the perfect writing background of what the comics about the Daywalker would work with. His other works are The Witcher, Moon Knight and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. This alone should indicate that they have a writer that understands the lore of Blade.

While reasons as to why MCU’s Blade is actually having trouble in pre-production is not clear.

It appears that Marvel is still searching for the director that will match their vision for the production.

Source of THR said:

They want to really get it right.

Considering the rumor we just posted a few days ago, we also want them to do right by Blade.

There is no question as to whether Marvel Studios is really planning to release Blade in the MCU. The movie is in all major showcases that President Kevin Feige presented. Ali’s voice is already present in Marvel’s Eternals talking to Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman. So, definitely, Marvel is pushing through with Blade. Indeed, they have a clear idea of what Blade has to bring to the MCU. They are looking for the best person to relay that idea to the big screen after Director Bassim Tariq bowed out. For reasons undisclosed.

The Daywalker will surely show himself in his best time.
