Julius Onah is now signed with Marvel Studios to direct the MCU Captain America 4 movie starring Anthony Mackie. The movie follows the events of the Disney Plus series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. The series where Mackie’s Sam Wilson has fully accepted taking over the mantle of Captain America.
In line with this, the movie will have Malcolm Spellman as writer. Spellman also held the position Head Writer on the series that also starred Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier. Spellman will work with Dalan Musson who will write the script. This new development as to the progress of the Captain America franchise of the MCU comes from The Hollywood Reporter.
The new director for the fourth movie of Captain America, Julius Onah, is an award winning film maker from Benue State, Nigeria. His recent work on Luce as Director, Writer and Producer called the attention of critics. He gained nominations for these three. Most importantly, his screenplay writing won him the category in three different award authorities. Apart from Luce, his more recent work as director is The Cloverfield Paradox in 2018. Also, Avicii: Broken Arrows a music video in 2015 and The Girl Is in Trouble also in 2015.

Aside from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Malcolm Spellman has written for series on tv. These are Bel-Air this year and another earlier series Empire which ran from 2015-2017. Meanwhile, Dalan Musson is also credited for his writing in Cap’s Disney Plus series. In other projects, Musson has Iron Sky: The Coming Race in 2019 and See What I’m Saying: The Deaf Entertainers Documentary, a documentary released 2009.
Mackie’s Cap, though still overwhelmed, is now ready to take on the responsibility that Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers carried. He may not be a super soldier like Rogers but he has all the heroism needed for the title. Though specific storylines are still confidential since it’s in the very early stages of development, characters from the series are expected to come back.
For one thing, Cap will most likely keep working with the Winter Soldier and it’s likely we’ll see Stan pack the punch in the big screen again. Even Emily VanCamp’s Sharon Carter may appear since she is now Power Broker. And, what about Daniel Brühl’s Baron Zemo? Given that by the end of the season, Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina Allegra de Fontaine is recruiting, could this really be the start for Thunderbolts?
Production schedule is still also under wraps. However, we do expect more updates and in more frequency which will surface in a few weeks or even just days. MCU’s Captain America 4 will be the first movie for Mackie as the title character. From Avengers: Age of Ultron to Avengers: Endgame he and Sam have come and flown a long way. Julius Onah will certainly focus on this in the movie.

Much like Scarlet Johansson’s Black Widow and Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye, the new Cap will not have superhuman abilities. They are strong and able to take on “bad guys” solely with regular human tier attributes. Marvel Studios Vice President of Production and Development Nate Moor explains:
…What happens with this guy who announces publicly kind of, without the support, ‘I’m new Captain America.’ What happens next? I think is fascinating because he’s a guy. He’s a guy with wings and a shield, but he is a guy.
Moor goes further saying what the movie will explore. This will be what Julius Onah will be showcasing for MCU’s Captain America 4. In Moor’s words:
…what makes somebody Captain America? So, we’re going to put him through the wringer and make him earn it, and see what happens when he is outweighed, outclassed, out-everything.
Keep eyes to the skies, Cap might just fly by!
