Samuel L Jackson confirms Martin Freeman is in Secret Invasion on a recent live panel: In Conversation with Josh Horowitz.
Bleedingcool.com notes that Jackson dropped Freeman’s name when Horowitz enumerates a number of actors involved in the series.
Secret Invasion is an upcoming Disney Plus series based on the comic book storyline of the same name. Samuel L. Jackson returns as Nick Fury from the MCU, together with Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill among others.
New to the Marvel Universe are actors Emilia Clarke, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Olivia Colman, Killian Scott, Christopher McDonald. Martin Freeman is the latest newly confirmed member of the cast.
In the comic books, Marvel Comics featured a crossover of superheroes. Marvel has been slowly revealing that The Skrulls have been invading the Earth for a long time.

They are alien shapeshifters who have inconspicuously replaced superheroes in the universe over time. With the premise of superhero impostors, suspicions continue to boil as to who will the people believe. Initial concepts of these are already in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Particularly in one scene where Peter Parker suggested to SHIELD investigators to ask Nick Fury for help. At the time, Parker encountered a character whom he believed to be Nick Fury during the events of Far From Home.
Peter Parker was quite confused when he was told that Nick Fury had been off-planet for more than a year.
There is also a scene in WandaVision where a Skrull met with Monica Rambeau. Rambeau was asked to join the Skrull and meet “an old friend” of her mother. This establishes that the Skrulls presence have been around for more years than we expected.
With all that said, Martin Freeman is no stranger to the MCU. In the films, Martin Freeman is Everett Kenneth Ross.

He is an ally of the Black Panther and has appeared in Captain America: Civil War, and Black Panther.
Freeman is also set to appear in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Given the premise, there is also a possibility that Everett Ross may have been a Skrull all along.
Or perhaps he is about to be replaced by one, who knows?
Samuel L. Jackson has nothing but praises for the cast of Secret Invasion. Being true to the term ‘secret’, a lot about the series is still unknown.
The new cast members have yet to even talk about the characters they are portraying. With a release for streaming dated 2022, we can only expect that they are either in the final leg of filming or within post-production activities.
