Netflix greenlights a mobile game and an animated series adaptation of the card game Exploding Kittens starring Lucy Liu and Tom Ellis.
It is quite interesting how people come up with the possibility of crossing and combining ways to entertain the public. Card gamers know of the popular game Exploding Kittens. A considerable number of friends have crossed hairs and unsheathed claws over winning the tricky game. However, a good portion in winning is how lucky the player is at that round. Just don’t pick the Exploding Kitten card and you’re safe for the night.

Variety reports that Netflix has ordered for a mobile game and an animated series version of Exploding Kittens. Netflix has had the mobile games feature in the app for some time now. The games are completely free to play for active subscribers. Tying a game with a series is a new idea and Netflix may most likely be the first to do it among all the streaming service players.
One of the creators of Exploding Kittens, Matthew Inman, says
Netflix is the only service that could bring Exploding Kittens to life in both a series and a game. We actually launched ‘Exploding Kittens’ on Kickstarter as a weekend project, but our community has been the heart and soul of the company over the past six years. The new series and game will give our fans new ways to connect and interact with the franchise.
The mobile game adaptation, “Exploding Kittens – The Game,” will launch in the Netflix app this May, while the animated series has 2023 as its debut schedule. This will be enough time for subscribers to get the hang of the game until the animated series arrives. The streaming service shares that the animated series will affect the gameplay once it is available. Certain characters and situations in the animated series will influence how the mobile game plays when the time comes.

As for the animated series, Netflix has Mike Judge and Greg Daniels as its executive producers. Shane Kosakowski and Inman will be the showrunners and joining them are Dustin Davis of Bandera Entertainment, Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping for Chernin Entertainment Group as producers as well.
The animated series has the working storyline of chunky house cats sent to Earth because of the eternal war of Heaven vs Hell. We can’t help but think about Tom Ellis’ titular role Lucifer from the well-received series of the same name. He and Liu will star in the animated series with Abraham Lim, Ally Maki, Mark Proksch and Sasheer Zamata.
