Yes, like most of you we’re hyped about Disney Plus’ Loki Season 2 so we’re going to break down the release date, returning cast, and the plot.
Out of the first set of Marvel TV shows, Loki is the first series to have a confirmed second season. The show dealt with the creation of the multiverse. Because of this, it opened up all the different possibilities like the What If..? series, and it unlocked the multiverse with Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. So, even though Loki was a very isolated event, it’s a major part of the MCU explaining away all the weirdness that has happened recently in the Marvel Universe.

Kate Herron directed the entire first season. But she won’t be returning back. Directing duties will be taken over by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorehead. They’re directing duos that have made VHS: Viral (2014), The Endless (2017), Syncronic (2019). They’ve also directed two episodes of the upcoming Moon Knight series (2022), Archive 81 (2022) and The Twilight Zone (2020).
The show will have 6 episodes.
Loki Season 2: Release Date
There’s no definite date as of yet. But, pre-production is already under way based on Production Weekly. It’s also said that Loki is ready to start filming by summer this year. For now, it’s estimated that the show could be released between early to summer 2023. If the schedule is similar to the first season, the show may be released in June, sometime before or around the same time as Ant-Man and Wasp: Quantumania.
Loki Season 2: Cast

With the multiverse now out in the open, any character can return without limitation. But that doesn’t mean that all the actors will be back, but we can hope. Some of them have already confirmed their return to the Loki season 2.
Of course, we will be expecting Tom Hiddleson to come back as the ever popular Loki. He’s the main lead of the show. Sophia Di Martino already confirmed in an interview will ELLE that she’ll be back as the female Loki variant, Sylvie for the upcoming season. Gugu Mbatha-Raw also has confirmed her return as Ravonna Renslayer in GMA. Owen Wilson will return as Agent Mobius as he also has confirmed this in the Wired interview.
Some of the cast hasn’t said much about their return, but is expected by fans to come back. Tara Strong as the voice of Miss Minutes, has not said if she’s participating in the upcoming series. But she hasn’t said that she isn’t involved in it. She just can’t say. But is seems impossible to watch the series without her. Considering how involved her character is more than the Time Variance Authority actually is.
We also expect Wunmi Mosaku to return as Hunter B-15, since she learned the truth about variants. Jonathan Majors as Nathaniel Richards (aka He Who Remains or Kang The Conqueror), he’s a major plot point in Loki and a villain the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumrealm. We are sure that we won’t see the version that we saw in season 1, but we do expect to see a variant of him showing up in season 2. We want to see Eugene Cordero back as Casey in the TVA, since director Kate Herron herself confirmed that he’s pretty much fine.
Loki Season 2: Plot

As fans seen in the end of Loki, it ended in a cliffhanger. Sylvie created the multiverse by killing He Who Remains. Loki, on the other hand is now back in the TVA although it’s in another universe where he sees Kang The Conqueror (also known as Nathaniel Richards) rules the future.
The story will depend on the events of Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. We understand that Tom Hiddleston and Sophia Di Martino will be in Doctor Strange sequel. We aren’t sure if they will be variants. But there is no reason to presume that they may or may not be. Mainly because regardless if they are variants, they’ll be trying to solve the problem one way or another. Rest assured that the events of the Doctor Strange sequel will factor in how the new series will turn out.
Note that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is scheduled in July 2023. If we presume that the release schedule is similar to the first season. Loki Season 2 will show up before Quantumania. Since both of them will involve Kang The Conqueror, they are most likely connected.
