The Disney Plus Marvel Holiday special ‘Werewolf By Night‘ has ‘The Nevers’ star Laura Donnelly as its Elsa Bloodstone.
An exclusive from Cosmic Circle brings the report in. Laura Donnelly is now joining Gael Garcia Bernal in the Werewolf By Night Holiday special. Initially, people assumed Donnelly will be Nina Price who eventually becomes Vampire by Night. However, Donnelly is in fact going to be the monster huntress Elsa Bloodstone.

Laura Donnelly is recently nominated in Critics Choice Super Awards for Best Actress in Science Fiction/Fantasy Series for portraying Amalia True in HBO’s The Nevers. She has 25 acting credits to her name, which include being Hella in Britannia, Mabel Tolkien in Tolkien, and Jenny Fraser in Outlander. Earlier works include genres that would definitely prepare her for her role as Elsa Bloodstone.
In the comics, Elsa Bloodstone was created by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning and first appeared in Bloodstone issue 1 (2001). She is daughter to Ulysses and Elise Bloodstone. Growing up, Elsa never knew her father. She did not know of his monster hunting career. Before her father died, he had his trusted handyman Adam give Elsa the Bloodgem. The Bloodgem enhanced her physical abilities achieving superhuman strength, speed, endurance, agility and invulnerability. Through various issues, her character evolved from a young cheerful blonde who hunts monsters to an orange-haired matured huntress. Ulysses is a father who is now more involved in Elsa’s growing years. The new version, which is canon in Marvel comics is Warren Ellis’ iteration of Elsa that appeared in 2006 in Nextwave: Agents of HATE.
Werewolf by Night, Jack Russell, has a long history in his family line connected to lycanthropy. By definition, Lycanthropy is the condition when a human becomes a werewolf. The first documented ancestor with the confirmed transformation is Grigori Russoff in 1795. Many events including the involvement of the Darkhold and creation of its copy is in his history. For the most part, Russell seeks to cure his condition as he also sees the curse as an affliction. Jack Russell’s quest for cure only had him find out that the only way for him to survive is to embrace his werewolf self.

Upon full control of his werewolf, he took part in various missions with other Marvel characters. These characters include Spider-Man, Ironman, Dr. Strange, Morbius the Living Vampire, Spider-Woman, Ghost Rider, Man-Thing, Moon Knight and even Captain America.
Elsa Bloodstone, the monster huntress brings Legion of Monsters to the table with Werewolf By Night. Is this connected to the rumors about a Midnight Sons project?
