Recent news on the Star Wars vine say that Lars Mikkelson is indeed Grand Admiral Thrawn in the upcoming Disney Plus series Star Wars Ahsoka. As early as February this year, we posted the rumor from Small Screen that the actor has signed for the role. If current talks are true then it confirms the February rumor.
This report from TheDirect comes to no surprise for any Star Wars: Rebels fan. They expected this. Mikkelson is the perfect cast for the role. Apart from his work as the voice of the character in the animated series, he has the acting chops to fit it to his live action projects belt. More and more, the storyline for the Ahsoka Series in Disney Plus is forming to be a continuation of the animated series Star Wars: Rebels. The production has Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger and Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren. Mary Elizabeeth Winstead is also in the cast for an role that still remains secret. The same is for Ray Stevenson and Ivanna Sakhno. Three actors who are part of the cast without specific character names. Most notable actor on the list is Hayden Christensen who will be back as Anakin Skywalker. Many will remember the Master-Apprentice relationship that he has with Ahsoka. And this marks Christensen’s return to the character after Disney Plus Obi Wan Kenobi series.

Should production truly have Lars Mikkelsen as Thrawn in the upcoming series, it would be another love letter for the fans. Filoni and Favreau have done wonders to the franchise especially for the series. Despite the lack of full length feature films, fans have more their fill on characters they have grown to love. Even the current series Andor starring Diego Luna is in very favorable standing.
Now, the open ending of Star Wars: Rebels may just find its closure. Thanks to Star Wars: Ahsoka series. In the mean time, an upcoming series of shorts featuring Ahsoka Tano and Dooku will be on Disney Plus this month. Watch out for Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi.
