This is only good news for those who followed Rebels and the current live action Disney+ series.
From The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and now the Ahsoka series, fans can expect that the three are closely connected.
Evidently, Ahsoka and Din Djarin are already seen in The Book of Boba Fett.
Not to mention Luke and Grogu.
So, who is Thrawn anyway?
starwars.com describes:
Thrawn is the Sherlock Holmes of the Star Wars universe, but his role is pure Moriarty: he’s a villain who uses his powers of observation to control and manipulate his enemies. He uses his interest in the art and culture of varied species to his own advantage, pinpointing weaknesses based on his deductions. And his own personal history spans several eras of Star Wars, from his first encounter with the Republic during the Clone Wars to his longstanding career with the Empire.
It is not the first time that Lars Mikkelsen would portray Thrawn.
He has quite a relationship with the Admiral Thrawn character.

As mentioned above, he gave the character its voice for the Star Wars Rebels.
In terms of understanding a character, Lars Mikkelsen is leaps and bounds ahead of all those rumored to being considered.
Doing the voice of Thrawn means for a few years Mikkelsen has conceptualized how the character thinks.
It is Mikkelsen’s voice we hear in the series.
It is Mikkelsen’s voice that generated and inspired the facial animation reaction of the character for years.
Animators watch voice actors as they record lines for a specific scene.
These instances give them ideas how to make the facial expressions as the character delivers the lines.
Ultimately, the showrunners have no one else in mind.
John Favreau and Dave Filoni reportedly had only Lars Mikkelsen on their list.
We look forward to seeing the brilliant tactician from Timothy Zahn’s novels into the live action Ahsoka series on Disney+.
