Kevin Feige Shares MCU Is Close To Fully Showing X-Men

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige answered queries including the X-Men in the MCU question on the purple carpet for the Black Panther 2Black Panther: Wakanda Forever displayed the glitz, glamor and glory as befitting the Wakandan Royalty. Cast, crew and top names from the industry were in attendance to celebrate the premiere. Of course, among the people that viewers highly anticipate being in an interview is the studio president himself.

As many always anticipate what Marvel has to bring into the MCU, a lot are growing impatient as to when the Mutants will fully show. Kevin Feige answered these questions, although not completely and definitively, at least the response is truly promising with evidence of its eventual realization.

Deadline Hollywood (via comicbookmovie) tweeted a video of Feige’s response to the question. While the president did not give the definitive answer as when, he did cite two instances that also plugged a recent show and an upcoming project. Answering the question as to when is the X-Men coming into the MCU? He said:

That’s what Jennifer Walters just asked the robot in the final episode of She-Hulk. And I’ll give you the same answer that he gave, which was, I don’t remember, no answer. I think was what he gave, yes. But Deadpool and Wolverine, you know, we’re getting close.

While his response does not actually share anything new as opposed to the current and upcoming projects might reveal, it still is true. It’s true that the MCU is getting close to actually showing the Mutants. It has begun with the season finale of Ms. Marvel. In the episode, the last scenes indicate that Kamala Khan is actually a mutant. One aspect that is already deviating from the comics because, there, she is an Inhuman.

Feige first mentioned She-Hulk Jennifer Walters asking the question to K.E.V.I.N. in her own series’ finale. This self-aware character went all meta and asked the question for us all. To which the AI did answer but with

I cannot tell you that.

I understand that K.E.V.I.N. (Knowledge Enhanced Visual Interconnectivity Nexus) is also bound to an NDA. And while he was accommodating Walters in her preferred ending, he didn’t give her the answer to characters beyond her story. The AI not telling means there is already something to tell.

Second, Feige talked about Deadpool 3. While that movie is coming in a couple years, there is so much that can happen until then. Many MCU projects are still in top secret development. If it’s any indication, there are Phase 4 projects that materialized that weren’t in the original announcements in past conventions.

Crumbs are left on a trail to the huge gingerbread house. Mutant gene, check. More people having powers lately, as cited in She-Hulk series, check. Weakened multiverse barrier to imply that the MCU already has its own Professor X and other X-Men characters in existence, check. It’s all there. Perhaps even more.

It’s been a while that the question about the X-Men transitioned from would they ever appear to when they would appear in the MCU. That in itself is a great achievement for Marvel Studios. More than the mutants and their adventures, MCU has many trunks load of stories to tell. It may not be exactly a great test of patience but still, it’s a great time to be a comic book fan.
