Sony is upping its game in the Spider-Man spin off Madame Web with Marvel President Kevin Feige as a producer. Indeed, the movie starring Dakota Johnson just leaped into a whole new level above its predecessors.
Geekositymag posts that Madame Web lists Kevin Feige as one of the producers as shown in Production Weekly. Neither Venom nor its sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage has Feige’s name credited as producer. We rather not talk about Morbius. But, we did.
Lately, more fans are dreading the upcoming adaptation to Sony’s character version of Doctor Strange. Particularly because… Morbius. One after another, Sony seems to keep missing their shot. We have yet to see Kraven the Hunter, but with the recent revelation that the infamous hunter has become “an animal lover and protector of the natural world”, that really didn’t sit well with a lot of fans.

This goes to show that Sony may have made a few calls. Call a friend if you will. There is particular concern why Kevin Feige will be crucial in his involvement with the movie. Madame Web is indeed going to be Sony’s counterpart to MCU’s Doctor Strange.
In the comics, Madame Web has powers of telepathy, clairvoyance and precognition. Suffering from myasthenia gravis, she is also blind her whole life. To keep her alive, she has to be constantly attached to a complex and intricate life support system that her husband built.
The equipment resembles a spider’s web. Madame Web sits at the center of the network of equipment, hence her name.
It’s suspected that her storyline is somewhat of an origin story or about her being and elderly woman who’s restored to her youthful form. At the helm of the movie is S.J. Clarkson who practically defined how Jessica Jones should be delivered and eventually The Defenders. Morbius writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless has the credits to write for Madame Web. Do you see where the dread of fans are coming from?

Having Kevin Feige on board as one of the main names that make the movie happen is truly a relief. Even if at just a creative consultant capacity, one can be sure Feige will make a difference in the production. Definitely, he has the pizazz to channel the writing talents of Sazama and Sharpless to the right direction. There is also the need to seamlessly weave this to the MCU. Why else would Feige bother right?
Madame Web will interweave its network into the MCU. Because of her, characters from Sony can cross to MCU. This is much like Doctor Strange being the character who made the multiverse possible for the MCU.
July 7, 2023 is the release date for the movie.
