Spider-Man Director Jon Watts May Be In Talks For Star Wars Series

Disney may be in talks with Jon Watts for a mysterious upcoming “Star Wars” series for their streaming service.

This report comes from Discussing Film and Production Weekly.

Needless to say, the American film maker has quite a roster of film titles under his belt.

He has just completed the three Spider-Man movies and about to work on Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four.

Apart from another project Apple TV+, this supposedly upcoming “Star Wars” project will keep him on his toes.

It will not be his first move from blockbuster movies on the big screen to television.

He has quite a number of TV projects as well.

Most recent is directing the pilot episode for the upcoming tv series he is also executively producing: The Old Man.

It is a series based on Thomas Perry’s 2017 novel of the same name.

Basing the possibility of Jon Watts handling the upcoming secret “Star Wars” series from his previous works, it is evident that he can handle a daunting story.

Series under the “Star Wars” franchise in Disney+ has been performing really well.

With the upcoming Obi Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka Tano series, it is only going to get more intimidating for the next carrier.

Murphy’s Universe reported that a Star Wars series is looking forward to commence production this June.

Could this be the project they are wanting for Jon Watts to handle?

Disney is positioning the new project as the “Star Wars” take on Netflix’s Stranger Things.

The story will focus during the High Republic Era.

High Republic Era is the golden age of the Jedi under the Galactic Republic.

It is also during this time that Jedi Knights are more active throughout the galaxy.

This period in time is one of expansion and exploration of the Outer Rim Territories.

If Stranger Things will be the point of comparison for the new series, the upside down could be the Outer Rim Territories.

Who knows what kind of creatures lurk in the area that Jedis mean to explore.

Also like in Stranger Things, a young group of Jedi sensitive individuals can be the main drivers of the story.

Perhaps the audience will see characters from the animated series again.

Or do we dare hope for possible origins of Grogu and Yoda’s kind?

We do wonder what Jon Watts can bring to the series if ever he does handle it.
