Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is deep in development, a new report says Jason Momoa may provide the voice and personality of Shadow.
Once Paramount announced the green light for Sonic the Hedgehog Movie 3, development and production is in full swing.
The third installment of the series would seem to add Shadow the Hedgehog into the mix.
Creators of Shadow are Yuji Uekawa, Takashi Iizuka, and Naoto Oshima.
Shadow is an immortal anthropomorphic hedgehog who sometimes is a rival of Sonic.
Gerald Robotnik created Shadow as the “Ultimate Life Form”.
He was a result of Robotnik’s studies to cure deadly illnesses to save his granddaughter Maria.
Years later, Dr. Eggman released Shadow to use him for his plan of world domination.
Shadow initially intended to avenge Maria’s death.
But after losing and regaining his memories, he was able to stop Black Doom’s plan and saved the world.
Shadow is considered a dark version of Sonic.
He matches sonic in speed and skill and has the power to warp time and space.

We have yet to see the second Sonic Movie.
Based on the line up of characters, it seems to introduce villains and challengers of Sonic’s powers.
Eventually leading the new anthropomorphic creatures to become one of the good guys.
The upcoming movie will feature Knuckles who apparently will also have a streaming series coming up.
Knuckles has the primary mission to protect the Emerald Gem.
He has super strength and he means to use everything in his capacity to do his duty.
Shadow however has sort of a dark side to him that is also borne out of sadness.
He was supposed to be a cure for Marie who eventually died.
In existing stories that surround Shadow, he is depicted as a “lone wolf”.
Perhaps it is because the main reason for his existence is no longer alive that he is a bit lost.
The fact that Marie did not die a natural death also left him with much anger.
Shadow has come to terms in leading his own life separate from any evil genius’ plans.
Shadow in effect is a tortured anti-hero.
Fans voted him as the second most popular character in the series, second only to Sonic himself.

Matching Jason Momoa with the personality of Shadow has promise.
Momoa’s voice can be threatening, powerful and determined.
At the same time, it can be caring laced with dependable strength.
Perhaps that is why Jason Momoa is eyed to become Shadow’s voice.
Sonic the Hedgehog Movie 2 will be in theaters on April 8, 2022!
