James Earl Jones once again lends his voice to Darth Vader in the latest episode of Star Wars: Obi Wan Kenobi series in Disney Plus.
Deadline features a confirmation that the Honorary Academy Award winning actor James Earl Jones is the voice of the Sith Lord, Darth Vader once more.
There is no one more fitting than the legendary Jones for the voice of Darth Vader. If Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen and Jimmy Smits are back for their roles, then Jones has to be too.
James Earl Jones Returns As The Voice Of Darth Vader
The third episode dropped this week and as teased in the second episode, the audience finally sees Darth Vader. He receives information that Obi-Wan has finally been found. As Obi-Wan continues to protect Princess Leia and get her back to her parents, Darth Vader engages him to a fight. The former best friend and Padawan to Kenobi defeats his former master. Meanwhile, the most ambitious Inquisitor is in pursuit of the Alderaan Princess. Specifically, Princess Leia is about to be captured again.
While the fight scene may have some need for improvement, it’s important to point out that Obi Wan at this point is in disbelief. Eversince, their duel in Mustafar, Obi Wan has thought he lost Anakin to the flames. Likewise, Anakin, now Lord Vader has been nurturing his hate and strengthening himself through the Dark Side. This is their first encounter after that Duel of the Fates. James Earl Jones as the voice of Darth Vader is one of the character’s definitive aspects to being a powerful Sith.
Obi Wan Kenobi losing to Darth Vader this time shows only how powerful he has become. Even his Force signature is different to Obi Wan. Even before Vader enters the town, Obi Wan has already felt his presence and it was in a way that he could not believe. How could Anakin turn into this dark entity? His first words were even to ask Vader as to what he has become? In Vader’s hate he still blames Obi Wan for what ever misfortune he has befallen.
James Earl Jones as voice of Darth Vader in the Obi Wan Kenobi series for Disney Plus is just. No other actor can deliver the same energy by voice alone.
