In his official facebook account, Henry Cavill announces that he is passing the lead role in The Witcher, Geralt of Rivia, to Liam Hemsworth. While the news left the fans either brokenhearted or elated, they appreciate hearing it from the man himself.
Those who were sad after reading the message say that it will be difficult to watch Netflix’s The Witcher without Cavill. Understandably, the actor embodied Geralt in every aspect of the character. For seasons, he even proved he knows not just the character but everything about the series as well. In fact, he read the books after being a fan of the video game himself.

Although Cavill did not mention any reason as to why he is passing on the torch to Hemsworth, fans picked up the reason as due to recent career development of the actor. DC Films becoming DC Studios, now led by Co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran, could very well have big plans for Henry Cavill’s Superman. So much so that the actor needs to free his schedule up as soon as possible. Could it really be the reason? Could there be an extensive plan for Superman in DC Studios for several projects?

Truly, it’s a good time to be a fan but a fan of a lot of IPs cannot have it all. After all, much to fans’ dismay, there is only one Henry Cavill. One actor can’t take on two heavily responsibility-laden characters at the same time. Besides, Liam Hemsworth has his every confidence in delivering the role of Geralt for the seasons of The Witcher that are to come. Sure. That is still something fans would have to see. Cavill has made quite a strong foundation for Geralt which Hemsworth will be able to work with. Nevertheless, Hemsworth has really big shoes …Witcher armor… to fill.
