George R R Martin And Emilia Clarke On Game Of Thrones’ Snow

George R R Martin and Emilia Clarke speaks about the spinoff in development for Game of Thrones focusing on Jon Snow. Even Brienne of Tarth actor Gwendoline Christie weighed in on the developing series. Apparently, the concept comes from Jon Snow actor Kit Harington himself. Indeed, there are certain projects to actors that have become so dear to their hearts that the yearning for a continued story is too great not to satisfy. Perhaps Jon Snow is that kind of character for Kit Harington.

It’s also obvious that the cast and crew of Game of Thrones have a well-knit and strong connection. They continue to communicate to this day even years after concluding the epic series. To confirm the rumors about the developing spinoff, The Hollywood Reporter posts an article featuring Game of Thrones author Martin and actors Clarke and Christie. The three individuals confirm that Kit Harington is snow-deep in the development of the project.

Martin shared in his blog that the spinoff is truly in development. However, it has yet to receive a green light. Kit Harington approached him about the idea and brought his team to meet with the author’s team. Martin disclosed that on top of his other HBO ongoing prequels and animation projects, he is active in the development of the Jon Snow spinoff. The show is tentatively entitled Snow.

The Game of Thrones author states:

Yes, it was Kit Harington who brought the idea to us. I cannot tell you the names of the writers/showrunners, since that has not been cleared for release yet … but Kit brought them in too, his own team, and they are terrific. I am involved, just as I am with [the Thrones prequels in the works] The Hedge Knight and The Sea Snake and Ten Thousand Ships, and all the animated shows. Kit’s team have visited me here in Santa Fe and worked with me and my own team of brilliant, talented writer/consultants to hammer out the show.

…All four of these successor shows are still in the script stage… The likelihood of all four series getting on the air, well, I’d love it, but that’s not the way it works, usually.

HBO has secured the rights to distribute projects within the Game of Thrones property. And of course, they will still have to see details about the series in development.

Meanwhile Clarke shared that Harington did approach her about the series. Whether to consult a story line or to be part of the cast, she did not say. In her words:

He has told me about it. And I know it exists. It’s happening. It’s been created by Kit as far as I can understand, so he’s in it from the ground up. So what you will be watching, hopefully, if it happens, is certified by Kit Harington.

With regard to whether she would consider being Dany again, she firmly answers:

No, I think I’m done.

We do not need to reiterate though that Daenerys did die by the end of the series. However, considering the nature of the show and storyline in the book series that people who died have come back alive, the possibility would be there. Jon Snow himself could have been with the title “The Undying”.

Christie, on the other hand is more positive in the possibility. She says:

Brienne of Tarth is incredibly close to my heart, and I would relish any opportunity to revisit her. I believe she is enduring.

And perhaps, Game of Thrones can be truly enduring too. We do believe that once showrunners use carefully written story flow, Game of Thrones can soar greater heights again. The fans will definitely welcome it.
