Her words with the photos of what seems to be her final scene “look” indicate she is content with how Alicia’s tale was told.
I had a lot of conversations over the years with our showrunners @goldbergian and @andrewchambliss and I think we found a fitting way to conclude Alicia’s story. It is beautiful, hopeful and elusive.
Her role, Alicia Clark, in the series gave her an opportunity to work behind the camera as well. As any actor would evolve in the industry, there will always be a curiosity in them to look through the lens as well. Debnam-Carey grew up in the performing arts. As a child she began acting and playing classical percussion through the influence of her parents. An achiever herself, she pursued acting after attending Newtown High School of the Performing Arts.
As noted, she considers her experiences in the show as part of her performing arts training. She got to direct one episode of the series in its current running season. Ofelia aired April 24, 2022 with an IMDb rating of 6.4/10.
She says:
It has been the most extraordinary training ground as an actor where I’ve been given the chance to grow and learn. I’ve had the honour of working with so many inspiring and talented people. It provided new opportunities, such as directing and it has bonded me to such incredible fans that have supported me along the way.
It has been exciting, challenging, fun, hard and inspiring.

As Alicia Clark, Alycia Debnam-Carey has grown as a professional in the industry. She cites:
I was 21 when we began this crazy journey but now at 28, after 7 years and 100 episodes, I decided it was time for me to move on as an actor and as a person. As is the nature of our jobs I needed to seek out new challenges, new opportunities and carve out a new chapter for myself. I have been so lucky to be a part of something so awesome for so long but I hope you can understand and respect my choice to further expand and grow. I wouldn’t be here without you all and I am so grateful.
Ultimately, her thanks are to the people that supported her through this journey:
To the crews and casts from Los Angeles to Vancouver, Mexico to Texas, I am thankful for everything you’ve taught me. I love you all so much and I am so lucky to have had you all by my side. To the cast going forward, I’m so excited for what you will create next! And to my ride or dies who have been there with me every step of the way (you know who you are) I will be forever grateful to you.
It is bittersweet, but it is time.
Thank you for everything.
My love to you all.💀💅🏼💗

The final moments of her character in the episode implies that she may have survived the terminal bite. However, with the appearance of her younger self also imply that she may be moving to an afterlife. Michael E. Satrazemis directed the 100th episode, Amina, where Debnam-Carey’s Alicia tells her younger self that she intends to:
…to find the people who heard my message and spend whatever time I have left making sure they have somewhere safe to go
Fans commend how her story is told but also mention that it was bittersweet, as she has said so herself. Alicia never got to reunite with her mother, much less find out that she is still alive. One thing that fans wanted for her for so long. However, Fear The Walking Dead belongs to a franchise that isn’t always delivering a happy ending. In retrospect, Alicia’s ending is happy, comparatively speaking. There are other character who did not get the same growth and storytelling as Alicia did.
Alycia Debnam-Carey moves forward to her next projects. Specifically, she is the lead role in the upcoming series Saint X. The new series is a drama, mystery and thriller with Darren Grant and Dee Rees as directors. Leila Gerstein writes for the series based on the novel by Alexis Schaitkin.
