The third movie for Paddington Bear will have Dougal Wilson taking over the director’s chair from Paul King.
In a post from The Hollywood Reporter, the third movie will be titled: Paddington in Peru, from StudioCanal and Heyday Films.
Director, writer and producer Paul King will be staying on the third Paddington Bear movie as an executive producer. This move is primarily due to his current slate of projects. These are Warner Bros.’ Charlie and the Chocolate Factory prequel entitled: Wonka, starring Timothee Chalamet. Another is Everyday Parenting Tips starring Ryan Reynolds which is a comedy that’s still in pre-production.

In the exclusive, King states:
After ten years of working on the Paddington movies, I feel absurdly protective of the little bear, and I’m delighted that Dougal will be there to hold his paw as he embarks on his third big-screen adventure. Dougal’s work is never less than astounding: funny, beautiful, heartfelt, imaginative, and totally original. Aunt Lucy once asked us to ‘Please Look After This Bear.’ I know Dougal will do so admirably.
Dougal Wilson was nominated for his work on AT&T: Train in Directors Guild of America for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Commercials back in 2020. Among his other acclaimed works list short films, music videos and television commercials. Specifically to name four, 2016 We’re the Superhumans, Coldplay’s 2009“Life in Technicolor” , Apple’s 2018 A Little Company and Unlock.
Personally, my favorite is the John Lewis Christmas Ad 2016 with Buster The Boxer Dog getting to enjoy the trampoline on Christmas Day.

In response to King’s statement, Wilson offers:
As a huge fan of the first two films, I am very excited (if not a little intimidated) to be continuing the story of Paddington. It’s a massive responsibility, but all my efforts will be focused on making a third film that honors the love so many people have for this very special bear.
Paddington Bear 3, or Paddington in Peru, will be Dougal Wilson’s debut in feature full length film. Indeed, there is something magical in Wilson’s work. That magic matches Paddington Bear’s requirement for the delivery of the story. Of course, we do hope that more updates will be available soon. In the meantime, principal photography will start 2023 in London and Peru.
