Doctor Who Veterans David Tennant And Catherine Tate Return

David Tennant and Catherine Tate returns as the 10th Doctor and Donna Noble respectively for the 60th anniversary special for BBC’s Doctor Who.

David Tennant’s tenure as Doctor Who is considered to be one of the best of the series. His energy and fun characteristics really showed and a lot of the fans loved it. Despite fans were heartbroken to see the separation of Rose Tyler (played by Billie Piper) to another universe, it even got a lot of new fans for the its generation. No one can deny that when comedian Catherine Tate came into the series, the overall feel of the show got into an all time high. It was sad to see both of them leave and Tennant was eventually replaced by Matt Smith as the 11th doctor.

A few months ago there was fan speculation that David Tennant will be returning as the 14th doctor, replacing Jodie Whitaker as she retires her version of Doctor Who. It was even reported that the information came from a BBC source. It was weird though that Tennant will return as a the latest doctor. If that was true, he was going to be the first to regenerate to an older version of the doctor.

Then it turns out that the information of Tennant returning is somewhat true.

David Tennant is returning. But not as the 14th doctor. He returns as the 10th doctor with Donna Noble meeting the new 14th doctor Ncuti Gatwa. BBC has confirmed and reported it themselves.

Russel T. Davies, the returning showrunner of the new season of Doctor Who said:

It looks impossible – first, we announce a new Doctor, and then an old Doctor, along with the wonderful Donna, what on earth is happening?  Maybe this is a missing story. Or a parallel world. Or a dream, or a trick, or a flashback. The only thing I can confirm is that it’s going to be spectacular, as two of our greatest stars reunite for the battle of a lifetime.

David Tennant is actively acting currently playing as Phileas Fogg in Around the World in 80 Days, and he has recently done voice work for The Legend of Vox Machina and Ark: The Animated Series.
