Doctor Who David Tennant Return Clues From Russell T Davies

The time traveling tv series Doctor Who celebrates 60 years, Russell T Davies reveals details of David Tennant’s return as 10th Time Lord. The showrunner drops clues on how David Tennant returns for the anniversary as the Tenth Doctor with his companion, Catherine Tate’s Donna Noble. The tandem has been a fan favorite for the series and many have wished to see them back. It appears that this wish soon comes true in this year’s 60th anniversary celebration of the series.

As a new doctor is soon to appear after Jodie Whittaker’s 13th Doctor ends her term, news on David Tennant’s return have gone from whispers to Russell T. Davies’ statements. Davies returns as showrunner of the series assuming the position after Chris Chibnall. The forth coming series will feature Ncuti Gatwa as the 14th Time Lord. Meanwhile, preparations are already in motion for what appears to be a stand alone adventure for the returning tandem David Tennant and Catherine Tate.

According to Sci-Fi & Fantasy Gazette, Doctor Who Magazine published Davies’ comments on popular theories how the 10th Time Lord and his companion can return. Indeed, fans are looking forward to the possibility especially when Neil Patrick Harris is also on board as the next formidable villain.

It seems that Davies is attuned to online conversations about the upcoming series as well as the anticipated return of the tandem. He states:

How the hell can the Doctor and Donna be reunited! You’re sci-fi fans, you know the score, there are all sorts of possibilities ahead. Virgin Publishing once had a fine range of novels called The Missing Adventures – is that what this is? A mysteriously forgotten excursion for the TARDIS in between Planet of the Ood and The Sontaran Stratagem?

Or maybe it’s a multiverse thing, they’re all the rage these days. Maybe this is a Doctor and Donna from Universe 557, all set to collide with our own. Then again, maybe, just maybe, this return is so impossible that it’s actually an intricate illusion created by an old enemy of the Doctor’s. Or maybe an old enemy of Donna’s.

Russell T. Davies has thrown a handful of possibilities on the hat. However, given all of the above possibilities, there is still the possibility that the actual way isn’t in them. Either that or it’s a combination of all of them. With the involvement of the Celestial Toy Maker, presumed to be Harris’ character, anything is possible. The first Toymaker in Doctor Who appeared 1966 during the series’ third season. In the Toy Maker’s realm, he has absolute power over all time and space within. The realm exists for him to play with his captives where they play games to with their freedom. In the event that they lose, they become among the Celestial Toy Maker’s “playthings”.

The BBC is truly showcasing the series as one of its jewel shows. Naturally so, because it truly is something to celebrate when a show actually reaches running for 6 decades. Russell T. Davies revitalized the series in his reboot back in 2005 with Christopher Eccleston as the 9th Doctor. By fandom pulse, it’s David Tennant’s 10 who got well… 10 as their favorite. Some would contend that it was during 10’s time that Doctor Who shined the most. Who could forget the Weeping Angels in the episode that Steven Moffat wrote entitled “Blink”? To this day, many fans come back to watch 10s episodes.

In a few months, fans get to see him and his companion again. Like visiting a friend after a long time. Besides, 10 himself said:

[Time] Is More Like A Big Ball Of Wibbly-Wobbly, Timey-Wimey Stuff.
