Fresh from Season 1 Finale of MCU’s Ms. Marvel, Directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah now focus on upcoming Batgirl for DCEU multiverse. The tandem directors Adil & Bilall are now channeling their vision towards the release of Batgirl in the DCEU. Both comic book movie franchises are now stretching their branches of their respective multiverse. Even though one may be more established than the other.
In other words, Directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have projects in both worlds. The upcoming Batgirl will be connected to the DC Extended Universe. An exclusive from the Direct posts their take on the project unlike other stand alone DC movies recently.
While The Batman starring Robert Pattinson is not in any way connected to the DCEU, Leslie Grace’s Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl definitely is. In her upcoming solo movie, Grace’s Batgirl interacts with Michael Keaton’s Batman. The said Caped Crusader is the official Batman of the DCEU. This is also why Keaton is in Ezra Miller’s The Flash. Likewise, J.K. Simmons reprises his Commissioner Jim Gordon for the movie. In turn, Simmons portrayed the role for the Zack Snyder Justice League. Meanwhile, other projects that DC has established to be in line with the DCEU are James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker. On top of these are the movies for Superman, Aquaman and Wonder Woman.
Directors Adil And Bilall Talk Of Batgirl In A DCEU Multiverse
Batgirl having characters shared with DCEU movies fortifies the movie’s link to the rest of the bigger story for DC. The DCEU has been inching its way forward with the multiverse narrative. Fans have been waiting for years for the franchise to catch up with the competition. There was a time that DC actually tackled the multiverse ahead of everyone else. But again, that was quite a long time ago. Presently, everyone who’s ever read entertainment headlines know DC’s ongoing problems behind the cameras.
Fortunately, the DCEU Batgirl is on its post production phase and gearing up for the release. Arbi & Bilall shared how their movie belongs to the broad multiverse of DC. They particularly noted that fans will have to see the other movies to better grasp the story they mean to tell. In their words:
Well you know, we’d sort of give the same answer, because we would also ask, ‘Oh, you have J.K. Simmons from the Snyderverse and we got Michael Keaton from the Burton-verse. What’s the situation there?’ And they would say, ‘Don’t worry about it. We got a plan.’ They never really explained that aspect to us, but I guess you’re gonna have to see the other movies to understand what happens, why the reason is that we ended up in sort of a spaghetti of Multiverses in that aspect. It’s gonna be a delicious spaghetti, I’m sure of that.
Directors Adil And Bilall Talk Of Batgirl In A DCEU Multiverse
Details of the movie are still under wraps but for the directors to assure audiences that the connection is there is still promising. And we are all rooting for DCEU to continue to fly and soar higher. Based on the original release dates of The Flash and their movie, there really seems to be a continuity requirement between the two.
Whatever events will transpire, The Flash is set for its release too. But due to prevailing circumstance, the actual date is not yet available. Thus, this may be a major factor why Batgirl also has extended time for post production. We do trust that Directors Adil & Bilall get the chance they deserve for Batgirl. If Ms. Marvel is any indication in terms of storytelling, Barbara is indeed in good hands.
