Production finishes sequel to the 2019 superhero movie about a boy getting his powers as gifts from a wizard. And now, everybody waits for its release in 2023. The 2019 movie got its $85M production budget back and some from the US Domestic Box Office alone at $140M. Add the International Box Office of $223M and it boasts its Worldwide Box Office at $364M. By the end of its run, the sequel is inevitable.
This time, the story progresses as during a time that Billy and his family has had their powers for a while. Even though they work to save people on their own, they still have to find a way to work together. Eventually, Merlin appears to warn Billy that the Daughters of Atlas are coming. And Billy being Shazam, his chosen champion, needs to step up.

Amidst the pandemic and the great transition of management due to the merger, changes in the movie’s release date happened numerous times. However, it seems locked in for its March 2023 slate. Director David Sandberg shares a photo of a screen showcasing the titular hero in his lightning glory. Celebrating the wrap up with the mindset of finally getting some much needed break. Even though there are rumors circulating about the movie’s plot, everything has to be taken with a grain of salt. Accurate or not, things can change until the movie officially arrives in theaters next year. In a few months, to be more specific.
However, one rumor seems to have its confirmation prior to the release. Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman will appear in the movie. Apparently, Billy Batson has a crush on her. The clip they showed in this year’s cinemacon displays Zachary Levi as Shazam. It goes:
Levi’s Shazam is in Paris at a restaurant, with Wonder Woman having dinner with him. The hero tells Wonder Woman that he can’t commit, and she begins to walk out, but suddenly stops. When she turns around, it is not Gal Gadot, but instead, it’s Merlin, who warns Shazam in a dream that the Daughters of Atlas is coming for him. The footage also shows a giant dragon landing near them. Shazam says to Helen Mirren, ‘Lady, I’ve seen all the Fast and Furious movies and it’s all about one thing: Family!’ Nothing happens, so Shazam says family again and the kids all land one by one behind Mirren.
