Christian Bale Good To Go Batman Again For Christopher Nolan

Christian Bale is still down to take on the Batman mantle again but only if Christopher Nolan directs the movie. Bale is up for another comic book character this time as the villain Gorr the God Butcher in MCU’s Thor: Love and Thunder. Be that as it may, it’s not stopping him from considering another run for Batman.

Apparently, he and Nolan have made an agreement. Variety reports that the Oscar winner has expressed on Screenrant that he will happily welcome a movie as Bruce Wayne and Batman again for Nolan.

Nolan’s Batman movies breathed a new life to the Caped Crusader. It started in 2005 with Batman Begins. Then skyrocketed in the box office with 2008 The Dark Knight showcasing the critically acclaimed Joker of the late Heath Ledger. Finally, 2012 with The Dark Knight Rises. Batman under Nolan embraced the Dark Knight narrative. He is the warrior who faced his fears and made it his armor to fight crime-ridden Gotham City. All three movies together totaled a budget of $565M and generated world wide box office record of $2.44B. IMDb ratings aren’t bad either at 8.2/10, 9/10 and 8.4/10 respectively.

When he was asked about whether he ever got a return to Batman offer he said:

No. No one’s ever mentioned it to me. No one’s brought it up. Occasionally people say to me, ‘Oh, I hear you were approached and offered all this.’ And I’m like, ‘That’s news to me. No one’s ever said that.’

This is interesting because it seems he is amenable to portraying the role again. He even added:

I had a pact with Chris Nolan. We said, ‘Hey, look. Let’s make three films, if we’re lucky enough to get to do that. And then let’s walk away. Let’s not linger too long.’ In my mind, it would be something if Chris Nolan ever said to himself, ‘You know what, I’ve got another story to tell.’ And if he wished to tell that story with me, I’d be in.

Coming back to wear the Batsuit again may not be that farfetched, considering that DCEU is still running. Despite the heavy and huge hurdles Warner Bros has to overcome to release The Flash, people expect the multiverse to happen in the DCEU as well. On television and animation, it’s actually DC that was able to capture that concept first. In fact, Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton are already on board to portray versions of the role. Even though there is Matt Reeves’ The Batman that Robert Pattinson portrays, there should be no stopping Warner Bros from adding Bale in a story. But who knows?

Maybe just like in the animated series of The Dark Knight Returns Warner Bros need to “slow down” because “we’re in for a show”.
