DCEU keeps Ben Affleck as he is now back to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne and Batman in the upcoming Aquaman sequel.
Batfleck is back as Aquaman’s official Caped Crusader. Jason Momoa, himself, confirms the news with a post in his instagram account.
In a report from Geekosity, prior to the news breaking out, they have covered it through Syl Abdul’s YouTube channel. Now the cat… we say, the Bat is out of the bag. According to the scoop just uploaded two days ago:
Flash after Aquaman release don’t make sense. It didn’t make sense seeing Keaton in an Aquaman film. The scripts want a Batman.
They are expecting Ben Affleck on set for additional photography on Aquaman 2.

Because The Flash now is premiering 2024 after the release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, some scenes got distorted in terms of continuity. Michael Keaton’s Batman is in The Flash together with Affleck’s. Supposedly, that movie carries the DCEU’s multiverse in it. But, for Aquaman to show Keaton’s Batman before The Flash, it will raise a few questions. Neither could Aquaman show without the scenes with a Batman. Apparently, the Aquaman sequel has crucial scenes that need the Dark Knight. Thus, Affleck is back.
This news is most welcome, especially for DCEU fans. Particularly, fans of the SnyderVerse where Ben Affleck began taking on the role of Bruce Wayne and Batman. Unfortunately, at the time he shot for the Justice League, he has admitted that he wasn’t in a very good place. From everything that was happening up to the reshoots when Joss Whedon took over, it was too much for the actor. However, during his portrayal of the character in The Flash, he has renewed his interest and became more amenable to the idea of doing it again. Affleck said:
Maybe my favourite scenes in terms of Batman and the interpretation of Batman that I have done, were in the Flash movie. I hope they maintain the integrity of what we did because I thought it was great and really interesting – different, but not in a way that is incongruent with the character.
Who knows? Maybe they will decide that it doesn’t work, but when I went and did it, it was really fun and really, really satisfying and encouraging and I thought, ‘Wow – I think I have finally figured it out’.

The confirmation from Jason Momoa came as tourists saw him with Affleck on the Warner Bros. backlot. Once again, the news kept the SnyderVerse fans’ hope alive. Instead of downplaying their mistake… or is it a mistake? Momoa owned up to the situation and went ahead and made the announcement.
DC needs this great news. We do hope that this begins DCEU’s path to getting it going. Also, this news further fuels the move to ensure Cavill’s return as the Man of Steel soon.
