Anson Mount Is Reported to Return As Black Bolt In The MCU

Latest news hit the internet world as Anson Mount reportedly returns as Black Bolt from the Inhumans in the MCU.

According to GiantFreakinRobot, the MCU will keep the most recent actor for the role from the 2017 ABC series Inhumans.

Anson Mount will once again portray the King of Atillan.

This time, the character will be within the MCU.

This also closes the discussion on who will play the part once it comes home to the MCU.

It just goes to show that Anson Mount more than satisfied the team behind Inhumans to begin with.

Prior to the premier, showrunner Scott Buck said:

Anson is terrific. I think everyone’s going to be very pleased and excited by his Black Bolt. We’re not doing voice over. If you read the comics, you see Black Bolt does find a way to communicate to people, but he’s also a very enigmatic character as well, and he keeps a lot inside. That’s part of what’s so fascinating about him is that a lot of times, we don’t know what he’s thinking.

Production-wise, it appears that Scott Buck is not alone in this impression.

Initially, the Inhumans were supposedly a film to be part of Phase 3 of the MCU.

However, that plan was diverted and the Inhumans became a TV Series for ABC.

Even though their first appearance was in Marvels Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the ABC series Inhumans was intended to be a stand alone project.

The premiere episodes were release in IMAX theatres and disappointed in ticket sales.

It was a case of “expectation vs reality”.

Audiences expected cinematic spectacle but got a television episode on IMAX.

Despite that this was already marketed as a TV series, it still did not translate the product enough to mitigate the expectations.

Reviews were not favorable either. (Check out the video below for the whole story.)

However, Inhumans are an important part of the Marvel story.

Bringing the comics to life is what MCU does.

Perhaps, with better execution, this time it will work.

And this time, they will begin introducing the Inhumans into the MCU with their King Black Bolt.

Anson Mount can don the costume and internalize the character again.

Would Anson Mount’s Return As Black Bolt In The MCU mean returning the Inhumans as well?

Because Anson Mount returns as Black Bolt, does this mean that MCU is already working on the Inhumans storyline?

Are they working on how to weave the Inhuman race into the MCU?

Somehow, this is another powerful race or group of people secretly living their lives throughout human history.

They have done this with the Eternals and that left a lot of questions in the end in terms of the story.

They have also done this with Shang-Chi where we learned the existence of Ta Lo, a mystical community of martial artists, as well as the real Ten Rings.

Not to mention that Captain Marvel even remarked that the Ten Rings are not of Earthly origins.

We wonder how the Inhumans would fit into the Celestials storyline down the road.

Putting my interest to see Lockjaw aside, bringing all of these powerful beings into play would truly mean an intergalactic brawl is about to ensue.

Curiously, with my recent online readings… people mention Secret Wars every now and then.

Can that be how Arishem will pass judgement?

No production personality has come forward yet to specify the project for Anson Mount’s Black Bolt.

What is clear, however, is that when we see Black Bolt in the MCU, Anson Mount portrays him.
