AMC Plus Trailer For Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches Splits Fans

Not all fans are ‘feeling it’ when they saw the recently released trailer for Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches from AMC Plus. About three months before the series adaptation of Anne Rice’s Lives of the Mayfair Witches, the trailer leaves either love it or hate it reaction from fans. Starring Alexandra Daddario as Rowan, Jack Huston as Lasher, and Tongavi Chirisa as Ciprien. Joining them are Harry Hamlin as Cortland Mayfair, Beth Grant as Carlotta, Jen Richards as Jojo, Hannah Alline as Suzanne and others.

The official trailer logs two minutes in the uploaded video. Showing Daddario and other members of the cast. Scenes depicting those from the book on which some fans say are not exactly how they imagined they would be.

AMC YouTube channel posted the trailer with the description:

Based on Anne Rice’s Lives of the Mayfair Witches, Mayfair Witches is an exploration of female power and the mortal implications of our decisions. Mayfair Witches focuses on an intuitive young neurosurgeon (Alexandra Daddario) who discovers that she is the unlikely heir to a family of witches. As she grapples with her newfound powers, she must contend with a sinister presence that has haunted her family for generations. Coming to AMC+ #MayfairWitches #AnneRice #AMCPlus.

Equally noteworthy is the network’s move to develop its Immortal Universe or what they call Immortal AMC. This is mainly due to the titles they have acquired from the late author. It’s in the same network that viewers get the series live-action adaptation to Interview With The Vampire. Interview With The Vampire stars Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac and Sam Reid as Lestat de Lioncourt. This new universe that the network is building might just get a crossover.

While a lot of comments in the posted trailer display positive feedback and excitement, some have pointed out that there are certain changes made for the live action adaptation. For one thing, the character Michael Curry, who is also central to the novel, is not cited in the trailer or even in the cast list in IMDb. Also, David Talbot is not in the list. Some also mentioned that Daddario’s character should be blonde, in line with the art in the graphic novels.

However, despite the differences that the fans aired, most are quite happy that the series is almost here. It strengthens the fact that finally the late author’s works are getting the attention it deserves. Even though some say that there are points that they find lacking, at least people can see the series now. A good number of readers of the series reserved their impression. That is, until they get to see it starting January 5 in AMC and AMC+. Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches have truly worked up a stir among fans.

Premieres January 5.
